Ive thought about doing the same, and a modded (coilovers, cam, flowed inlet manifold, chip, zorst and replacement filter) will give a std 182 carrots
Yep the same applies, but you gotta keep her well maintained, so regular oil changes (at least one between regular services).
You will have to remember though that youre in a 1.2 and not a 2.0 so peak power and torque will occur at different (usually meaning lower) rpm.
While were on the...
mate the 172 makes its peak torque at 5400rpm and peak power at 6250rpm. Engine only comes alive at 4500rpm so yeah, staying below those revs is like having a pool and only sitting on the first step...
So yeah provided the engine is warm (drive till the water temp gauge is half way, and then...
mk1 172 weighs in at about 1056kg
mk2 172 Cup weighs in at about 1020kg
mk2 172 weighs in at about 1080kg

Ive taken the car on a high speed oval and...

This is sort of reminding me about people who were testing bullet trains to make sure they could withstand hitting a bird at speed.
They bought a piece of equipment which basically shot a supermarket chicken at the target to simulate the real thing. In essense a cannon
After a few days of...
Well the Audi day was fun (except when incompitent people get in the car with you and think they are superman...quite scary that as they just dont listen)
Anyway, the A4 1.8T was fun, but didnt handle. The S4 was really fun, but Id prefer my 172 round a track, and the suprise of the day was...
Tomorrow Im going to be spending the day as an instructor for an Audi Day at the Zwartkops raceway, which basically means spending the day driving around a racetrack, showing potential Audi customers what the cars are like in a decent driving environment...Im only going to be driving an A4 1.8T...
