Ive just read the other forum thread and I see some of you might be interested in the PRS8 which if Im not mistaken is about 250 pounds...but i might be wrong...at most it wont be more than 500 pounds, but remember, thats a standalone system
Oh...just occurred to me...my mate is the owner of...
Guys, since the SMT6 is made in South Africa Im pretty sure i can get the chip for you guys for a less than 150 pounds since here it costs that to get the chip + install + tune
Id have to check with my mate about actual prices, but shipping wont be too much.
Youd then just have to organise...
Well, I couldnt get back online, to check answers, so I had to drive, unfortunately on the motorway, but luckily at night.
Car was extremely sluggish, could hardly get her over 3000rpm, and when I got close to 4000rpm she poured out smoke...
Got home, in one piece and didnt sleep.
Next...
I noticed that my 172 was a bit low on fuel (Dash oil indicator looked something like this 0000_)
so I thought Id top her up with some yummy 10W50 fully synthetic but jeezus...Ive just thrown 5 litres down into her and it barely seemed to make a difference...it all just went in, and it seemed...
I need to to top up my oil too.
Im sitting with 33k miles on the Clock...
What do you recommend. synth, semi-synth or mineral?
At my first service the dealer warned me not to top up the oil by myself...they talking rubbish or not...
Right, Ive just put in a 63mm cat back system onto my car with 2 silencers, but damn it still sounds sweet when you are at low revs or accelerate hard.
Ive also decatted the exhaust, basically just ripped out the cats and welded pipes in...they did quite a nice job on that too.
Id like like...
Ive just picked up my car from the zorst specialists and Im very happy.
The idle is now a wonderful burble
Accelerating hard gives a nice roar
Lifting off suddenly (even just changing up a cog) gives lovely little pops and burgles
Highway cruising (3000-4000rpm) is pleasant.
Now Ive...
It gives up predicting because Renault dont want to be blamed if you push the limit and run out even though it says you could still travel a certain distance.
My computer generally shows the fuel light when I have around 60km (37mi) showing on the trip computer.
Ive actually tested this, and...
Ive just spoken to the owner of Viper Performance Exhaust (Johannesburg) about getting a stainless steel performance zorst installed onto my car (from the branch back)
Hes quoted me R1900 (152 pounds) which is pretty damned good because Ive heard nothing bad about these guys.
My only...
Sounds exactly like what happened to my 172 recently...started getting sticky, then the revs started bouncing, then the revs would stick at about 4k rpm...If Id left it any longer it woulda snapped on me.
Sticky accelerator...check it for wear at the pedal end (loose strands, cable not tightly wound)
If you find anything like that, replace the cable ASAP.
Im horrible when it comes to gearbox thrashing on trackdays...and the only thing Ive ever popped was the speedo sender unit (youll know its on its way out when your speedo needle bounces)
I had a similar idea a while ago using scuba equipment, but I reckon youd need a high flow of O2 to make it work which would run out quickly...also pure O2 is very flamable...youre quite likely just to blow up your engine and most probably yourself if you tried
Id suggest SMT6
more mapping points and options than the Dastec...cheaper too (I can get the chip for under £100)
If you liked, I could probably get you the chip and ship it to you, but then youd still have to get in installed and tuned (which might negate any cost advantage)
I picked the mk1 one mainly because I prefer the looks to the mk2
On the road, track and drag strip, Ive yet to find a std mk2 which can hold its own against the mk1 (or maybe its my driving)
In my perfect world, Id have a 172 with the following
- mk2 interior
- cup weight
- mk1 seats
-...
Come to SA
You can fill up on 102.6 Racing fuel for only 44p a litre
Regular costs 33p a litre
Sorry bout the bragging but africa does have some advantages ;):D
