Nick Hill replied about the TBd prima rebuild it ended up going out to the isel of man (or similar) and the engine is out of the clio and into a kit car or similar, its posted on here in the last few weeks
what spec are the cams do you know? they originaly bought for the F7P or specificaly for the F7R bottom end?

idealy try and follow it and gget the driver to press it out whilst your checking for smoke - could give an indication of wear in the bores/rings, idealy before its not to warm.
ive heard of 3 thats have gone over 220k, do a search for user name Sprint16v he had a williams 3 from new to mega miles and was still fine will the belt snapped, Paul Mitchell bought it and stripped it and the bottom end was fine, remeber they dont rev very much and do tend to be looked after...
process of elimination replace the track rod ends and bottom ball joints as a matter of course, there is very little witin the rack that can actually "wear" if the steering has deteriorated radidly then its almost certainly the track rod ends

had all of the above and most recently F1GSD3s not to be confused with the rubbish early F1s, after having most in the same size on the same car i can honesly say they are all very good but just got thier own little charectistics, there is so little to choose i would buy the cheapest out of...
on a R19 i had before they were at the two from corners(nearest the bonnet) little holes that run down the door pillar, i doubt there would be anywhere else on other cars as there is no alternative route for them to drain unseen.

latests plan is to pop the plastic bit on the s/r switch and remot sensor our and get some water poured on to diagnose - then either disconnect the switch for the iwinter and seal with the edge of the s/r vaseline or if its the ariel i will re-seat as described.

cheers for the advice though - my problems with such jobs is i break thing in the process, this is why it needs doing in the forst place!
back to original questions the rear shocks look very similar on a williams, point taken on the front but on the rear its just a wider beam with the shocks mounting inline with the 16v :confused:

just popped out for ten mins in my williams and for the second time in a week i got wetter driving then i would if i had walked!
My old 16v would leak a bit in heavy rain but my new williams 3 with electric dunroof its collects in the plastic fitting for the sunroof swiches and interior light...

on my williams 3 i was planning to replace both bottom ball joints - while removing the first one i had the drive shaft etc flop over the side iof the wishbone and i ripped it putting it back - this job is loads harder then when i did it on my 16v! :@
how difficult is it to replace the outer...
post the prices up if you dont mind as i think it will help a few of us as im looking to replace most of the wearing suspension parts on my williams and i doubt im the only one - saves the annoying 15min conversation with renault parts trying to establish what im after
ive doen them on my old clio but had trouble slipping the male bit out after removing the two bolts - anyone found a good method of seperating them? they are only held in by friction?
last time i struggled like hell and had the strut/drive shaft sliding about all over the place and the CV boot...
