the one that was done at 210k )and Jiimbo might be able to describe his own 200k+ one too) The wear around the crank was fine just requiring shells, but the rings had worn a fair bit and slightly unevenly which meant the piston itsself had started to touch slightly (remeber the williams has...
By bottom end re-build i mean big end shells, piston rings, oil pump and all the relevant gaskets - assuming the crank is fine
im thinking around £300 for parts
But what about labour?
GSF 10/40 F/S, 5ltrs £10ish - or anything similar
oil is oil (wheres Brun?) and where is the benefit in mega thin oil draining out the tappets everynight?
I dont know how oil reacts under pressure (little or nothing i guess) but the thinner F/S oil i used in the past give mega oil pressure...
untill yesterday i would have lent my support 100% to the "Coolant is Coolant" campain but this has brought my belief into question
i will post his reply (he might just be a valeter for all i know) no offence to valeters!
then will disconnect the speedo and make an example of your car for making such a suggestion!
king.stromba was it your car i have seen thrashed by Mike Brewer on the telly? supposed to be williams number 002! ;)
not as silly as it first seems!
see the post in general section by Ben H about dealers and read from a ex-Renualt employee say why the F7 series engine pop head gaskets, aparently its not the large heat/pressure its simply down to wrong coolant and incorrect bleeding of the system!! I was...
going back to what you said earlier and your proably not to worried abouy the money from the sound of it but i wouldnt bother replacing the HT leads and rotor arm etc. Its electircal so by its nature dont replace it will it fails and AFAIK its not a service item. Just my opinion - they are...
the track rods, track rod ends & ball joints can be bought from GSF for more sensible money, probably same item as Renault.
I had my springs replaced just before i bought it, no idea of price but its fairly common to have them fail.
as stated elsewhere is very unlikley the rack is worn as there isnt really anything to wear, where as there are lots of perishrable items further out and your certainly sounds like the track rod end without doubt. no point getting the trackign done till its fitted as it will need doing again...
the site where the guy rebuilt one at 210k+ is now on 280k without further problems, and when rebuilt there werent massive problems with the rings being the main thing, best thing would be to closely moniter oil consumption, expect 1ltr per 1000 miles but much worse then that and it would...
i collected my prvious williams engine and box myself and took it home in the boot (Twin engined!) and my my most sceientific terms its is astonishnly heavy, its the only engine i have lifted but it took 3 very big bloke to lift it and that was only just. I would crudely estimate the wet weight...
will be a great car when finsihed. 165BHP is a fair target IMO
has the piston come away from the rod compleatly?
got any pics of it? would be intresting to see (im sad!)
did it run? did you buy it like that? or it suddenly went down hill?
drop a PM if you need any help on the swap, might be able to help.
the megan F7R head might sell well anyway, certain for more then the cost of a 16v head, if properly worked with hours and hours of porting etc its...
not your top priority at the moment i appreaciate but the F7P (clio 16v) head on the F7R bottom end would be far and away the best combination. The ports are much smaller on themegan head and its shares little in common with the williams head, plus using the F7P saves all the other problems...
remeber its an MOT failiure, as is taking the bulb out from the warning i believe (might be wrong) they sgould check for it to come on then go out on ignition
i heard about a bloke who had oil water mixing on a golf but not at the junction with head and block (head gasket) he describded it was on of the bores becoming porous which i guess was through wear. didnt guery it but replaced the bottom end to resolve it after fitting two head gaskets without...
what eactly are they going to "tune" there isnt anything to adjust in real terms. there is a possibility they might be able to diagnose why it not making enough power but that can be done much cheaper and much less accuratly by having a good sniff of your exhaust fumes. If it makes low BHP and...
depends on what you want to have done? you looking to buy a back box or are you looking for quad TBs with a steel crank and forged pistons etc??? there are lots of places that will take your money.
worth remebering that AFAIK there isny anyone who can work with the siemans ECU used in...
try admiral direct, they are the real people behinf elephant and beat my elephant quote by £100 - i pay about £600 fully comp, 23yo, 2years NCB no bad really, the group dosent reflect the quote, still loads cheaper then a scooby or an intergra type R which are also around group 18
if could get them shot blasted and powder coated but ive seen wheels direct from shot blasting and they are very pitted and need filling and rubbing down all over which is an expert job if you want it done properly
whats finish will powder coating give? good enough to paint straight onto?
how oftenm do they need doing? i replaced mine on the 16v, a bit of black gunk came out the tank end which was pleasing but not noticable improvment, im guessing at 109k its a worthwhile replacment now?
i take it de-compressing the fuel system is the usuall fuse and run it till it dies like...
as above - any one done it easily? mine bind on a little bit as did my previous valver, meaning new rear pads needed changing every 9 months and performance and MPG.
any ideas?
anyone reccomend a good wheel refurb place for williams alloys, the service im looking for would need to be full sand blast, powder coat, paint and diamond cut to outer rim (to make silver) then laquer.
but wheels supplied and collected without tyres and balancing etc.
been looking at...
all clio track rod ends are one of two types - male or female simple as that, and i think thats more down to year the model, The rack gains the extra length in the rack and track rods themselves, the rod ends are all the same, GSF list the same for R19s clios etc etc £13.95+VAT i think
have...
