I would think the only way to remove it would be to chisel it away.
leaving it alone might help eventually as the plastic would just carbonise over time...
.3 seconds is a helluva long time in terms of cars. yes, its close enough to come down to driver skill, but given that both drivers are equal .3 seconds @ 60 mph is about 8 metres (2 car lengths) and thats a lot

when I got new tyres on my mk1 172 they were initially not very grippy, but the more I drove them the better they got... now that they are fully bedded in / roughened up / whatever they are simply awesome.

Because it saves them money. Yes the exhaust is less restrictive but it is restrictive.

They came std on the mk1 172 and in winter youve gotta piss on your hand to get it unfrozen off the gearstick:cry:, and in summer you better be near an anti-burn ward because these suckers will roast your hand (they can reach upto 50C:o in the sun)...
