Since I got my Pioneer DEH P740MP HU Ive had this little nagging feeling in the back of my head because all of you guys who have similar have the DEH P7400MP HU, and Ive been trying and trying to discover the difference, at one point I even thought I might have some Pirate Copy thing.
Anyway...
If these seals are anything like the seals used in our local super hatch series, then before the season starts, each car is RRd to make sure the engine is putting out the claimed power and meets requirements, then the engine is sealed. Once sealed no more work is allowed on the sealed portions...
Im using a Pioneer DEH-P7400MP in my mk1 172 and I dont actually miss the stalk controls.
I did for the first few days, but now I dont...I just like having the better HU
ps. The Pioneer HU looks very nice in the mk1 because the mk1 has a nice silver surround
Torque is usually more indicative of engine size.
Power is a function of Torque and engine RPM, which is why high revving small engines can put out as much or more power than a larger engine.

Im busy looking at the user manual for my mk1 172 and it has vehicle codes for all the various Clios

Just get a blue one...youll love it

I personally chose the mk1 because there were only about 50 imported to SA, and at least 5 have been written off so provided I can keep mine in good nick, it is a very rare car, gets more attention than the...
As far as a good car with track day performance my opinion would be as follows
1 - 172 mk1 (has all the goodies, and more "kart" like than the mk2)
2 - 172 Cup (has no goodies, but slightly, very slightly better on the track than the mk1)
3 - 172 mk2 (has even more goodies, but more...
To tell the truth I wasnt all that impressed with the 172 when I got it...its gotten faster though since Ive owned it, but that might be because I bought it in the height of summer and its now just past the height of winter
