Yep - I do lose the HUD information. I connected it all in as far as I could and the stalk still didnt work which is why Im puzzled and guessed that the red connector meant something.
What I think might be happening, is that the data from the stalk is passed through the HUD wiring (maybe??)...
4) - I dont have a clue - just a green/yellow wire with clear connector on end
5) goes into a similar looking connector coming out the back of the new head unit - in the HU manual it says that its for external stalk control.
If 1 is the HUD connector, then how and where would I get that in...
Just found another pic - its not my model and it has lots of different stuff BUT it does have this red connector on it - you can see it with the thick black cable coming from it
http://www.stceurope.com/images/autoleads/pc9-112.jpg
I explained it quite badly - the red "wires" is actually a thickish black cable (quite long so obviously has to travel) with a rectangular RED connector on the end. The green/yellow is a green/yellow wire with a clear covered connector on the end. Everything else is plugged in.
I dont know...
Thanks chaps - when you say adaptor - which one do you mean? - the one that came with the head unit, or the one that is on the stalk wire adaptor thing?
So I dont need to do anything behind the dash then?? My stalk control will work with those 2 extra bits not plugged in anywhere?
Believe it or not I managed to install my headunit - apart from actually getting it in because the wires wouldnt get out of the way enough, but thats another thing.
At the time I got it, I ordered an adaptor wire to make the stalk control compatible with the head unit. It seemed relatively...
Thats really nice of you Tom but I couldnt bother you like that. Ill have another look in the morning and if I cant, Ill pay Just Ice to do it - are they pretty cheap?
Thanks again
Nope - it had those blocks too (even I can see where they go!). Im talking about speaker leads - piece of wire with a connector on the end and a rubber cap over the metal bit protecting it. They are labelled as speakers (front, rear and non-fading - 2 of each)
Im on herts/essex border - near Stansted Airport
I managed to get the Renault HU out today (trust me, for me thats a feat and a half!) and then gave up when I saw the stuff at the back. I have no idea where half the things would even go. There are loads of speaker wires (with protective caps...
I might give it a go, but I doubt Ill wire it all up right (certainly not the stalk adaptor). There isnt anyone right nearby me anyway
Thanks for the advice but itll probably end up at some audio place knowing me!
PS: PCs are easy to build!
Head unit finally arrived today (and lead to make stalk control compatible will be here tomorrow). Any ideas for whos best to fit it? - someone like Halfords or shouldnt I trust them with my car? Auto-electrician?
And before anyone says it, no Im not fitting it myself. Im totally inept at...
I get it on most cars, but the Clio is particularly bad. I too push the window or use my jacket sleeve!! I hate static shocks and seem to be prone to them.
From a little tally - which I probably counted wrong anyway! - I make it 6 individual votes for the Alpine, 6 for the Pioneer and just 3 for the poor Kenwood. If someone gave an order of the 3, I took their first as their vote.
I wonder why the Kenwood isnt as popular.
Im still...
If you mean on the forum here - try the uploader --> http://erc.qmuc.ac.uk/cliosporthttp://erc.qmuc.ac.uk/cliosport - look at the FAQ topic at the top of the forum. Although it would be better for people with slower internet connections if you changed it to jpeg first - 960kb could take some...
I was looking at the Sony CDX-MP70 (or whatever its called - the MP3 one that Renault are offering) but people slated Sony ICE.
I think Im between the Pioneer and the Kenwood at the moment. The Alpine is nice but when you are spending that kind of money, its nice to really want what...
That looks a nice one James. I just found the JVC KDLH2000R which is also MP3 & looks identical for 219.99 which seems a bargain. I think Im just getting over tempted by the units with the panels that pop down - dont know why.....probably just more to go wrong on them!
Youre right Daz - as...
LOL - 3 completely differing opinions!! I expected everyone to go for the Alpine as it seems to be the god of ICE in a lot of opinions!
I like all 3, but if I had to order them on aesthetics only, it would be Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine. However, I know that you shouldnt always go for the...
I (think) Ive narrowed my head unit choice down to 3. Just wondered if anyone would give me their opinion on which to get. I can get all 3 for a similar price which makes one a real bargain. Links are simply for memory refreshing, not indicative of where I would buy them...
Sounds like a good idea - although his second gear is very long (just over 70mph) and pulls like a train, so I think I wouldnt fare as well in that instance, although I might surprise myself!
The 172 blue is very nice - I was only considering blue or black, but when the black was the only one...
I think the penny has finally dropped! Some people may be aware that Ive never been overly happy with my 172s performance since I got it last November. Coming from a turbocharged car, the 172 has always felt quite dull in a straight line hard acceleration. Yes, the car itself and the handling...
Shouldnt have a problem. I know someone who used to have one and they arent that quick (not slow though). They are mid to late 8s to 60. The one you want to worry about is the 220 Turbo Coupe - that would have you (mate has one).
190bhp??? I doubt it. The turbo coupe 220 is only 200bhp and I...
It seemed to be applying differential throttle to different wheels to keep me in a straight line when the car wanted to go to one side - felt like something was pulling you away if it started to slip. The most noticable thing was the cutting of the throttle but it could have been braking as well...
Very nice!
Downloaded pretty slow from that FTP for me (less than 4kb/s) - want me to host it on my webspace? - will be much quicker downloads for people
Ive only ever got mine to come on back when we had all that snow and boy did it work!! Never even had a flicker any other time, but thats surely a good thing - I know it works! I wouldnt want it to be oversensitive anyway.
I dont think it would be cheap to retro fit and probably little point...
Sounds great from here! Wish my car sounded like that but I wont put aftermarket exhausts on them! - never have done.
Only reason I can think of that media player wont work, is version? Do you two have version 9? If not, then Im not sure.........the only other thing Ive got downloaded into...
