Tim0 already said it I think.......the other side was his brothers messed up attempt and he pootled the rest of the way up the strip
On another note I dont know why people are disbelieving and arguing - they should be happy that it got 14.4. Well done Tim0 - thats a fast car!!
So that Alpine 7893R is a pretty high range one?
What would be the difference between that, and something like this which caught my eye --> http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/kdcm7024.asphttp://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/kdcm7024.asp - I see that the Alpine one is 4 x 60w but apart...
Makes a pleasant change reading another forum where they dont try to make out that they will kill "another" car. They seem to have their feet on the ground over there. I do like Fiat 20VT Coupes though!
Tinks? Sounds like metal cooling and contracting after a run.
Its not pinking - thats when the car is running and I believe it feels like the car is hesitating.
I would say that your car is fine on normal 95 RON unleaded. The engine will be set up for it and I believe you will need it set up...
I think 98RON is only a recommendation for the 2.0 16v engine used in the 172/Cup
I too notice the improvement when I go from Optimax to SUL, so I think Ill stick with Super in future. BP is my favourite!
...me a head unit to buy to replace the Renault factory unit.
Ive decided to just buy a new one with CD changer and then sell my Renault changer or something.
Budget is about £300 - possibly more if I like a particular model. Im really not that fussed about the manufacturer because Im not...
True, but unless you have extra protection in your policy, you have to pay your excess out initially whether its your fault or not and I wouldnt fancy paying £800 out if someone else smacked into my car!
Does anyone know the "shelf life" of Optimax then? After reading all this, I dont think Ill bother using it again! - I had been running a special cocktail mixture of 1 fill Optimax, then 1 fill SUL ;), but if it degrades that quickly, Id probably be better off sticking to SUL. That is unless I...
Which probably explains why my car feels pokier on super unleaded than it does on Optimax a lot of the time - dont see a lot of people using the Optimax pump and its most likely been sitting there for months!!
Well thats just it........there is a theory Ive heard on here that the "better" ones are the ones given a harder time from new - reflected in higher bhp output. My one was run in by the book and I dont have a flier, although cant say for sure as its never been rolling roaded - just my impression...
That is a very long gear!! I think my 172 only gets to 80 something in 3rd - never really looked properly! I drive mine in 4th a lot of the time......theres oodles of torque from across the rev range, and you can drop a gear if need be.
Are you planning to run it in as per the Renault...
Dont be surprised about the higher gear thing! 4th is possibly my favourite gear in my 172 - seems to pull like a train. Dont ask me why - I just like it best! (obviously not to pull away in though )
This is what you were trying to post Craggy? Didnt seem to remotely link properly to that place

172loony - what does the CTR feel like compared to the 172? Ive heard that the 172 feels more responsive in every day driving but that ultimately the CTR VTEC will win the day in a non distance restricted straight line race?
Steve_g - welcome! If you like the 172, then go for it. It is...
sl*gging off other peoples Clios isnt very nice Shorty. Maybe not everyone can afford the insurance on a larger engined model.
Either way it makes you look like a real idiot and drags the name of these forums down to anyone from outside or considering joining.
Fair enough, you dont like your...
All Ive learnt from my 6 months at the wheel of a 172, is that they have to be ragged to within an inch of their lives to get their performance. Not my kind of car at all (being used to instant turbo power) but I try not to go around whinging on here about it because I made my choice and Im...
Hej |sAs|
My company has offices in Denmark and I was talking to one of the guys there and he told me the same as you about the price of the 172 :o - something about very high taxes on new cars in Denmark?
Welcome to the forum and have a nice easter too!
Tack
Mike.
I think you put your Cliosport member number in at the checkout stage and they verify and give a 5% discount.
I was going to do mine over the next few days too.
Were you really really trying? You should kill it if you are, but they arent slouches.
Had to wait for one to pass pulling out of my road this evening........he had fogs on and everything and obviously saw my silver badge on the side (about the only really distinguishing feature of the 172!!)...
Youre right.....a lot of places dont seem to be up to date with valuations. I would just take the 51 plate (which seems to be the latest) value and add a bit (hopefully). Parkers say £6340 trade for a 51 plate with 2000 miles, so yours must surely be worth over £7k. I know they lose the bulk...
