Going from experience of a 4 mile race with a 172 I can confidently say they are quicker than a williams.
I caught up a little round roundabouts but in a straight line the extra 20 odd horses meant it pulled away gradually... also due to the fact that I backed off at about !15 because it was...
Whats your point?
You want everyone on here to say "oh, they are better after all",
This has been a common topic for months now and I for one cant be arsed revisiting old ground.
I hope your a fan of cars, fi you are then youd know that the cup is the best small performance car around for...
Anyone read the little snippet at the side of the page in this months Evo
Where it said that the Cup had proven so popular the renault are thinking of discontinuing the 172 and just offering cups with ABS etc....
In other words they mean badgin all the cars up as cups but reverting them back...
Its the rocker cover gasket that is leaking... dont worry about it.. its porb the most common but harmless fault to occur on nearly all 16v/ williams.
Mine does it. As long as the oil aint getting into the cylinder I dont give a monkeys
Just to let everyone know that the williams 3 is in fact stratos blus and not monaco blue as a lot of people think it is.
I have just got the brochure and is says so on the back... plus Ill need a sh*t load of it to spray the new front end thats going on mine after I stuffed it into a motorway...
I was on the M60... coming off onto the M56... if anyone goes past today can they pick up my number plate and fog light cables...:)
I feel like the worlds biggest mug... No north west meets until its fixed ok?
Errr... Ive done something bad... very bad.
Ive smashed the williams into 2 motorway barriers and it doesnt look very healthy... I am now minus 2 front headlights, a front bumper and a rear light cluster and tailgate... what a total penis.
The insurance man is coming round to collect it...
getting the oil changed etc... you could go to renault and theyd do it for a ridiculous price... if you want the oil done, brakes + air filter then id go to a local garage that would do it much cheaper...
If youre looking to buy a mint williams I would imagine you want one with low-ish...
If its the standard cobra factory fitted one like mine... then Id try a new battery in your key fobb.
Do you lock your car using the Key or the fobb by the way?
Ive noticed that the ABS on my williams wont come on under harsh braking until needed when going in a straight line...
but if I turn the wheel when braking hard it comes on nearly every time.
Anyone know if this is a characteristic of ABS that it comes on more readily if the wheels arent...
depends what u want to go for in terms of rarity...
You very rarely see R5 GTTs anymore but they can be a b**ch to own....
1.8 16vs are also becoming more rare... + they are quality.
Saxos are everywhere, as are corsas which you yourself say are crap.
Therefore Id say a 16v clio would be...
Long sweeping left hand bend in a residential area... my trusty fiat uno, 19yrs old.... it had been raining and cleverly I thought right lets boot it round this bend.
dropped it to 3rd and floored it, que worlds worst understeer as the crappy remoulds on the front just give up. I had full lock...
keep checking ebay mate...
aswelll as a diecast model there was a tamiya remote control williams on there last week...
I was tempted but explaining remote control cars away to my mates might have been a little tricky
Carlos.. Im in exactly the same position as you.... The williams is badly in need of new rubber as the old standard michelins I bought it with are now shagged.
I reckon Im going to go for some 195/50 toyos like everyone seems to. Primarily cause theyre a tenner cheaper each than the 185/55s...
I would say if it had rolled over and landed back on its wheels then most of th oil would stay where it should do...
If it had been sat on its roof in a field for 3 days before being rescued then who knows where oil will have got to.
Having driven a 4motion for about 1800 miles to France and back Id say I would have to disagree with the non impressive speed of them.
From my findings they went like stink making a fantastic noise and had tonnes of go in any gear at any revs... much more than my williams.
Accepted they dont...
jesus...27k.... thats young for a gear box to be playing up.
Still I wouldnt be too alarmed... its when you get whining or constant grinding from the box that its time for new underwear.
Sounds like the synchro-mesh is starting to wear in the box. I wouldnt worry about it if I were you.
Mines does it regularly when being put into reverse... I just try and be gentle with it and ease it in so Im not blunting the teeth of the synchro.
Youve got plenty more miles left in that...
If I were you I wouldnt mess about with the suspension, for 2 reasons.
1) The car is already one of the best handling front wheel drive cars of all time, you dont want to c**k it up.
2) Messing with their appearance means they are worth less when you come to sell it.
If you are heel bent...
