Forgot to mention also installed top PMS top mounts and strut brace.
Decided to spray the inside of scuttle panel Black and then freshen up things there too!
Next up looking forward to finishing off the suspension before the engine build begins.
I'm thinking of going down a ported matched...
Bit of an update it's been a while:
Jobs I have recently done.
Replaced bushes with Strongflex black series
Replaces all suspnsion with coilovers
Started making up new brake lines (replacing ABS)
Installed hydraulic handbrake(later found master cylinder thread was fooked)
Refreshed rear beam...
@Ads29 I do indeed still have the old loom with connector for the steering ecu.
What I was planning on doing was removing the connector from the old loom and wiring it up some how.
Gents after some advice regarding EPAS.
Recently converted by 1.6 k4m to a 172, and the last remaining issues to sort out is the steering. Obviously the plugs on the 172 loom steering ECU won't fit the 1.6 steering ECU so I'm guessing I need a 172 ecu.
Or option b is to cut the plugs off the...
Happy days mate, thanks alot for the advice, was just a bit unsure as to whether it had a return or not.
looks like i can get ordering the braided fuel lines now, cheers once again.
after some advice a what fuel pump to run.
currently building a 172 rally / track car, and im after a return less system ideally as carbon canister has been removed etc.
Gents I'm after some help.
Replacing brake lines on the clio using a 1.6 master cylinder and splitting the front brakes.
The two holes on the master cylinder seem to be different sizes.
M10, M12 at a guess anyone shed any light on this for me.
Cheers
gents thinking of purchasing PMS top mounts and strut bar, for my rally car build.
Advantages over OEM, and any bad results.
I'm guessing by the looks of it comes in two main parts one for the top of the coilovers and one for on top of the car strut hole, drill through with 3 bolts and that's...
Happy days cheers for that.
I'm in the process of building a 172 Tarmac rally car too. However it's a non cup so looking to swap where possible to cup parts.
Am I right in thinking that if I use a 172 cup subframe, hubs, wishbones etc.. That it gives a wider track?
Good morning gents,
After some advice regarding who people use to build their engines on here?
I'm quite confident with most things except timing, and changing piston rings, bearings etc...
Ideally looking at doing this at the end of summer as the car is under going a full nut and bolt...
ACW Motorsport will beat any company out ther and do a better job.
99% of rally cars bein built use him, he's a really top bloke and will do you a good deal
Simple reason is I know for a fact I can do it for much less than 2k, to a better than standard state.
Most things will be upgraded as it started as a 1.6 rally car.
Kind of undesand where your coming from, but most of it has been done hence the reason I didn't wanna buy another 172 car.
All...
I am currently converting my 1.6 K4M into a 172 and need some guidance on the following.
What's the difference between 1.6 and 172 lower wishbone Arms??
Can I mount these onto the 1.6 subframe, and use Strongflex bushes, or do I need a 172 subframe.
Will I need 172 coilovers as I'm guessing...
Cheers mate, but more power but more headaches to get it all up and running.
I just need to clarify as long as I have a 172 interior loom, engine loom, UCH, clocks, ECU and Key in theory I should be onto a winner.
The only doubt I have is does the ECU need some sort of unlocking ??
Right Gents decided to listen to a few members on here and decided to go down the 172 route as my K4M doesn't run VVT and not too sure how I would get around it on the twingo 133 engine.
The plan is to purchase a full interior and engine loom, UCH, Clocks, ECU key and engine.
I'm pretty decent...
