The cars ive had must of been in some funny incidents, ill have to compare them up some brandnew ones when i get round to buying some but i swear they are all straight but the subframes were mashed.
Has anyone actually managed to bend a wishbone on a 172/182? Both of the 172's i have broken for parts have taken impacts to the front wheels and bent the subframes quite badly yet when you put the wishbone up against a straight one they dont seem to have bent at all. They seem to be hard as nails.
Id put money on that blowing up if you give it some, cossies do not like to be mounted in FWD application, they suffer from oil starvation if you dont have a dry sump fitted. A friend of mine has found this out the hard way twice and its pretty much impossible to mount a off the shelf dry sump...
Is the zetec sensor a straight swap for the Renault one other than changin the plug on the loom. or do you need aftermarket management to be able to use one?
Also i wouldnt rate the zetec coil pack as any more reliable than the Renault one, tbh ive hear of more zetec coil failures than Renault...
If its anything like a 172 cup then the GTW will be 0000kg which means your not really allowed to tow with it as the vehicle does not have approval for it.
Unless they are replacing the rockers aswell then you shouldnt really need the cams, and for £1340 i doubt they are replacing them as i recal them being around £40-50 each last time i bought one. Get the cams checked, one might have a crack in the lobe.
Hi Guys, can anyone running a hyrdraulic handbrake on the mk2 clio sport tell me what size master cylinder they are running and how well it works..
Ive got a 0.625 AP cylinder on mine and ive bled it to death with pressure bleaders, manual bleeding etc ive tried cracking the outlet on the...
Sold one of these 3 months ago, had the usual remap, a miltek exhaust, h&r coilovers, porsche brakes etc. Was such a nice car to drive so effortless and the midrange turbo power on tap is very nice as you dont have to rev the nuts off it to go anywhere, but what really pissed me off and one of...
How much pressure was he using? lol my gunson one says no more than 20psi should be used. Mine worked a treat getting the air out of my handbrake mastercylinder.
Why does eurocar parts and Renault list them as being the same for both sides then? im sure ill find out when i got to fit the one i bought from Renault.
Went to Renault today they are the same for both sides. The rod ends however are sided, bought myself the tool for getting them off aswell which should make life way easier.
Not sure if anyone has before but when i fit my pure motorsport strengthening kit to my spare axle im going to add in some mounts for the ARB so it doesnt pick up off the damper bolt and use rose joints to connect it.
Would definitely be interested i knowing the differences, im guessing just blueprinting of the internals to make sure they were all within the proper spec. Wouldn't mind a dry sump system though, I wonder how much a second hand system could be had for?
Just wondering if the track rods are the same for both left and right on the 172? I have a drivers side one in the garage but i need to replace the passenger one on my car.
Just incase anyone is interested i bought 197/200 master cylinder in the end from Renault, its goes on the 172/182 no probs at all. The only things you need to change are change the rear brake line fitting for M10 instead of M12 (200 cylinder has two M10 outlets instead of M10 front M12 rear on...
I tried that and it still doesnt quite line up properly.
The noise isnt intermittant though, althought it wasnt at 3-4k like i remebered (last time i started the car was about 3 months ago) its actually when the motor is coming back towards idle. Im guessing when the dephaser pulley stops...
Tensioner isnt quite on its marks anymore, which is strange as a checked the tension like a million time before putting the motor in the car. I marked everything up with a paint pen aswell and nothing has moved as far as i can see. Do the belts stretch at all? and can i re tension the belt...
Id go 350mm tbh my cup racer had a 330mm fitted to it and it found it hard to hold onto the steering wheel one handed when going round tight corners. Different case in a road car i know cause they dont have and LSD and slick tyres but i think 350mm is the perfect size.
Love my cup racer even if it is a massive money pit and has caused me 2 years of stress getting it road registered. Dont think i will be selling it for a very long time. Saying that it will more than likely meet its end in a granite wall somewhere haha. But ill just rebuild the fucker again and...
Yeah it was literally bugger all, you can just about feel it.
I will given the tensioner another check, it was still on its marks last time i checked it a few hundred miles after i replaced the belt. It basically done no work since then so should still be fine.
Might just change the solenoid...
Not even a fraction? it wasn't even 0.5mm on dial guage when i measured it. My car doesnt make the noise the car with a dodgy dephaser normally would, sounds just like my road car apart from this click/clunk noise.
Yeah i know under normal conditions you wouldn't hear this noise as my other 172 doesnt make it, but this one does so im trying to figure out what it could be before i start taking it apart to investigate.
When i did cam belt about 200 miles ago i looked for play in the dephaser. There was a...
I noticed on my car the other night when reving the motor with the bonnet open that there is a clicking/clunking noise come from around the cam pulley side of the engine. Basically if rev it up to about 3-4k after letting off the throtle and the revs start decrease i can here a click/clunk...
Think its 60mm like a 182, but the cup racer hubs are way fatter. Ive got brandnew front strut casings so when the B14's arrive im going to take them apart and build them into my casings. Cheers for the offer though, im sure you wouldn't appreciate me taking apart your suspension though lol :)...
