    It goes off so I dont think its and imobilser issue, I think there is a break in the cables for the TDC sensor somewhere but I need a wiring diagram to find out what pin they are on the ECU plug etc.

    The short wheelbase thing is a common misconception, compacts are exactly the same wheel base a normal E36 saloon or coupe they just have a shorter boot. E36's are far from short wheel base.

    Did you manage to get a replacement mount in the end? On mine it doesnt have studs it just uses bolts. Must have been changed at some point, maybe for reason above.

    Because manual racks are long and heavy. Try driving a 10 minute rally stage down tight twisty lanes in a 200hp clio with a 75% lockup plate diff and slicks, after 5 minutes your arms will want to give up.
