It's a more old school kinda hatch in that respect. Some people don't mind the normal engine/performance engine split. If they didn't Honda wouldn't have sold much. By the sound of it your driving style you would be better suited to a turbo engine that has a good spread of torque and at least as...
I agree but maybe the original poster has been out dragged a few times with cars with more grunt or just doesn't like have to drop 1 or 2 cogs to go. Like I said maybe it's the wrong purchase for them. The new 200 has it's haters but having turbo torque all over the place makes for a more...
I need to work on that then can't have people agreeing with me.
Chip may still disagree as he has done a lot of work on the daily he has to improve on renaults good work. That isn't a 200 though. Can't imagine the original poster is ready to play with cams and inlets on a car that new.
How many miles has your 200 done? Renaults engines need loosening up. Back in the days of the 1.8 16v Clio they retested one with a few miles on against the fiesta RS1800 and found a suprising improvement in all it's acceleration and interval tests. Do a few track days and I'm sure you'll notice...
If you love N/A rev happiness the 200. If you don't like to work hard then Corsa. Finding opportunities on the road to play with the Clio's rev range for any length is getting rarer. Turbo lump just boot it and go. If I'm in the wrong gear in the 172 cup I've already lost :)
The PS3's can be destroyed on track if you want to but they provide more than adequate grip wet or dry. The nankangs maybe worth a shot but in a country that rains as often as it does I would go with something that grips better in the wet for the road. To destroy the PS3s on the road you would...
3 gearboxes in the Vauxhall? Maybe the Clio was the wrong car as it's box is not the strongest! Anyway welcome and the front of your Cup looks a little high? A bit like mine did on one side when it had a non cup spring on.
I don't mind the track cars. Makes my pretty much standard car rarer...
PS3's on 182 lasted 3 track days (2 Airfield days) and 15,000 miles of commuting. If you don't drive on the throttle from turn in to exit with a load of lock on they last fine. They won't last long if you carve them away trying to chase people on 888's etc. Can't fault them in the wet. Even in...
Saw that video the last time you posted it :) Already made me wary of the limiter!
I just don't understand why the cup with it's peak power supposedly at 6250rpm is still pulling at 7250rpm. Or at least pulling well enough to make a 6500rpm change seem like a worse course of action. The 182 we...
Always wondered if the lower switch point would give the dephaser a hard time in traffic. What about the higher one with track use? Upper is 6.5k isn't it?
Just curious.
Yes a friend with a stop watch would be advisable. It's a ball park time anyway but counting 1 elephant etc is taking it a bit far! Also doing it on your own when you should be concentrating on your driving is asking for trouble :)
Braver than me. These days I just back down especially with my wife or baby in the car. You can spot a tool a mile off. Just not worth the hassle. Also having worked on many peoples brakes and seeing the state of their tyres I wouldn't trust their car to stop in time. The grip a set of budgets a...
Strip the rear and lose a few kg's and you'll get the same gains in performance. It really is that small. It's why I've left mine alone. I may match the inlet myself one day. There's enough info on here and I've matched inlets on other cars before. I always run 2 up on track if I wanted to go...
It's all about the oil changes. If done on time and with correct oil then they will go on and on. Looked after mass produced petrol cars 20 years ago were getting into the mid 150's or more in some cases. Even the CVH if you changed the cam when it wore could still be going at 120,000. Obviously...
The track days I do usually require prior notification for slicks. I would imagine they don't appreciate novices on slicks due to the potential corner speed and the lack of skills when they break away.
Where is the ABS unit on these. This is a normal 172. Is that doing anything weird. Our CRX used to do weird ABS things, pumping and knocking etc but that was a much older system.
I guess the 172 has a similar system to my 206 so this is unlikely and a guess the warning light would come in but...
Not really the same is it.
Then he'll have to go to his local Renault dealer then. Which may work out less than the total of the 13 quid to join here and the spring cost and delivery.
Renault parts suppliers on here and it'll be the best part of a hundred quid with delivery. If they're in stock it only takes a couple of days.
Aftermarket is a minefield.
Or go for Uprated ones like Eibachs or cooksports.
Mot tester is a tool.
