That bent bit of metal that joins the two 18mm bolts together will be the culprit if it's bent out of shape.
I've had the same happen on mine.
Take if off and then tighten the bolts and test to see if the caliper slides.
Depends on the driver I suppose, but I get about 3 track days out of the fronts.
Spoke to a guy who races in the Civic Cup and he sees the fronts off in one 20 minute race 😂
I don't think they do quite as much on the 172 Cup because of the lack of ABS, but they get fairly warm on mine 😅
You can see a good amount of pad material transfer too, so they definitely work.
If it's lowered and the ARB is under tension, then adjustable links will make a difference.
You don't want any preload on the ARB ideally.
Need to set the length of the link when the car is at normal ride height.
If you can find an engine that's had belts done recently, it shouldn't be too costly to swap over.
Even i can get an engine out of these in half a day.
If everything about the car was mint, bodywork and mechanical, i would probably get it repaired.
But if it's just average then you may as well just buy another car.
Has the cambelt gone?
That would be the first thing to check.
Not sure why they didn't try and turn it over by hand via the crank pulley bolt, it's easy enough with the spark plugs out.
When you say it broke down, how do you mean? Just cut out or went with a bit of a noise?
