The sensor size has changed somewhat though, you've gone from full frame albeit film, to a tiny, tiny little sensor and this will amplify camera shake.
Thanks Matt
Its quite a heavy crop, may return with a longer lens at some point.
I had an email this morning and someone wants to use it for an article on architectural photography on their website, I said yes as enough people are using my pics for free without asking :D
Yeah I can understand the over the shoulder feel but the bokeh is too undefined to show as a shoulder, more a smudge, that 85 1.8 shares the honour of being the sharpest lens tested on the D800!
The compositions are all nice apart from pic3 which looks like a quick phone snap. Would have been nicer with less depth of field, I.e blurrier backgrounds.
Where did you get that lens from for 200? I would still prefer the sigma but the lure of the zeiss 85 1.4 is difficult!
no probs yanoo, glad it was helpful:)
Egos aside ;) I am sure many people armed only with a smart phone could outdo those with a dslr which perhaps shows just how unimportant kit is, that said the question did concern kit and like for like there's probably little between the two cameras in image quality but the d3 will have many...
I like what you were trying to achieve but technically and compositionally there is room for improvement.
Firstly the horizon at halfway point isn't always the best position as it divides an image in half, there is a lot of noise in the green fields, mid way up. There is so much flare and...
I just bought a 5n with two kit lenses off the sony outlet store, once the kit lenses are sold on eBay it will have cost me just over £100! Not bas for the Nikon d7000 sensor in your pocket!
Its nice and sharp Jay
I haven't heard of any sharpness issues with the sensor, it should in theory at least be one of the best, if not the best crop sensor.
trouble with these 24 meg crop sensors (I have one myself) is that if you increased the size to full frame it would hold nearly 60...
Ok I need some help with reducing the number of cameras I own:o
i have a Sony a77 which is staying so forget I have this!
I have an rx100 which is great for landscape shots but its slow at the telephoto end and I like my bokery portrait shots.
am off to Barcelona later this week and bought a...
Uv filters were often used in the film days to remove a very light haze from shots, digital sensors already do this so no need for uv filtration. However lots of people like to use them for protection to which there's a big debate over whether they degrade IQ.
