Looks a lot like it's been painted at some point and not been flatted/polished down there, hence how blurry the reflection is in the paint. A little bit of wetsanding and a good pc would sort it out:)
All 1.2's do it AFAIK, mine does it, my mate's does it, a car we had in at work did it. I think it's just a poor design/poor quality of the gearbox in the 1.2's.
Well in that case I'm afraid you'll probably have to paint the full side (if the repair is big enough) to get the colour match correct, definitely (sp) will have to if you get a new door.
There's no way at all she can say it wasn't her fault so I wouldn't worry about that mate. I'd be prepared for the clio to be written off, shame for you looked a nice motor.
If you've already been pulled for your plate, space the new ones illegally and you WILL get pulled again, as they'll be paying particular attention to your car next time they see you.
I'd have refused to payout purely for the fact you keep saying brought instead of bought.
However, it is a bit harsh if the guy is telling the truth and the only thing he did wrong was have it registered to the wrong person, making the insurance company think he's telling lies about his dad...
Sportlines do the precise amount of bugger all in the way of lowering a 1.2. A mate of mine ordered those springs from k-tec and they turned out to be apex springs, just named differently on the site.
