When you checked it when it went down was the engine running or was really warm? As mine goes down a little when it hot but goes up slightly when cooled down.

The hub spacing, where the bottom of the suspension strut bolts to the hub. Measure the exact distance between the centre of the 2 bolts.

This is my old Clio, I did the mirrors and fog light covers myself with Halfords primers, spray and laquer, I would only do small parts yourself, get a bodyshop to do larger parts. At least you can take them off and not have your car off road.

Its easy get a fork from the kitchen or a flat bladed screw driver and using the opposite end slide it through the top hole where the key ring goes, then bend it down pushing the front half up and the back half down, it will then slide apart.

Isnt the underneath galvenised?

I think mine maybe an alloy bonnet, its loads lighter than my brothers mk2ph2 bonnet.
