So when looking at the printout there, the angles are measured to an accuracy of minutes & seconds (I think), how accurate do you reckon the the string method could be in comparison, if done well?
My local branch manager implied it's fixed pricing, no bartering, it is what it is, the price is what it says on the computer .
Are they franchises with some price flexibility?
I do!!!
Truth be told I would've preferred a lighter colour, but I got them quick and cheap(ish). ET35 makes such a difference to the 48.5 stock alloys :smilingimp:.
Here you go @K_McDermott.....
I could've had them fitted cheaper elsewhere, but happy to pay a few quid more for an easy life!
^ for you @imprezaworks :smile: (before I cleaned them btw).
When I changed my coolant, I had to keep it at between 2000 - 2500rpm for a good 20mins before the fan kicked in. Neighbours weren't overly happy . Ticking over wasn't enough.
How do you know the fan doesn't kick in? Does your car overheat?
I think you'll need to run the car @ 2500rpm for 20 mins or so to get the fan to kick in, IIRC .
No, extra for fitting. They're a rip at £14.99 a corner, but that includes a disposal fee that I don't need.
Where did you get them fitted for £20? Best I can find locally is £40.....
Yup, sure will!
A mate phoned up the same branch a day after me and was quoted £90 per tyre, he believes he might have been talking to a numpty 😂.
I have spoken to the branch on 3 separate occasions and the quote has been the same each time. I'm still concerned 🙈.
My local Kwik Fit have ordered me a set for £172 (195/50/15). I'm a little anxious they've made a mistake 😅, even though I've checked with them several times 😂.
That, however, I don't know 🙈.
What I have read is that going wider than 205 tyres starts getting dubious regards rubbing. So 215 tyres which are 10mm wider might cause probs. By going with an 8 inch (25mm wider) wheel sounds excessive to me. Just semi-educated guessing on my part. I...
Standard 172 alloys are 7x16 ET48.
So your current setup is:
• 15mm spacers on the rear: 48-15 = equivalent of ET33
• 25mm spacers on the front: 48-25 = equivalent of ET23
Your new 15" rims with 195/50 tyres will have almost the same wheel/tyre diameter as your original 195/45/16.
I managed to get it all done today - braided lines and fluid. The old lines came off without any trouble and the old fluid was dark so it was easy to see when the fresh new stuff came through.
I rounded one bleed nipple but still managed to get it off, probably need to replace it at some stage...
Will my eezibleed kit I bought in 1989 be ok, or should I buy a new one .
Also, I believe I need an 11mm flare spanner, but Halfords ones are 10mm/12mm combos now, which is a bummer if I wanna sort it all tomorrow.
I have read pretty much every relevant thread out there to figure out which order to bleed the brakes on my 172, and frankly, being rude, most of them are a joke 😂. Everyone seems to have an opinion (is an opinion OK for bleeding brakes :tonguewink:🙈), and everyone's opinion is...
