I had visions of the previous owners getting some air over speed bumps . TBF I've had a previous car with broken springs, dealer blamed speed humps then.
The MOT history is a bit dubious in that both front springs have snapped at some stage, and I wonder if the previous owners (2 of them in total) were a bit care free, what with it failing MOTs for dodgy tyres including one with a glued split in the tyre wall :openmouth:.
Silverstone GP versions were silver, is that right? Found a dealer selling a 2011 Storm Grey but calling it a Silverstone .
So June 2011 car, 60k, Storm Grey, Cup setup, Recaros for £6495 - sounds good? Not got history details just yet.....
Thanks again!
The gearbox issues are a concern, read a bit about that, but fixable I suppose.
Not too worried about economy.
My commute is 30 miles a day, but I also do several much longer trips throughout the year - comfortable enough on a long drive?
Thanks, I was pretty sure there wasn't a Trophy, but I wasn't sure the red calipers definitely meant it was a Cup. When an owner doesn't know what they're selling it does make me uneasy, on the other hand there's a possibility of a bargain to be had .
Are these cars OK as a daily? My plan...
I'm gonna gate crash this thread if no-one minds .....
I'm having trouble getting my head round these 200s, what's standard, what are options etc (I've read the sticky guide to 197/200s btw). Prices seem to vary a lot which only adds to the confusion for me.
I've seen this one, which...
Interesting, I used copper grease on the sliders (which were lovely and free) and have noticed the car pulling to one side on braking. Will something like Pagid Ceratec Brake Lube be alright?
I got the McGill bearings for my ktec top mounts, and they've been fine so far (but just one track day). I needed different dimensions to the ones linked above.
Not sure if I've added any value to this thread or whether this will help anyone 🙈.
In view of all the threads on here suggesting that only oem NGK plugs should be used, is it not worth considering changing to these first?
I'm not posting through any kind of personal experience btw, it's just I read the forums a lot and this subject keeps cropping up time and time again.
Might be worth checking & topping up the reservoir though, depending on how much fluid you lost when you wound the piston back in. Can't imagine it would be much though...
My fronts started rounding too, so I soaked them with Wd40 and used mole grips as suggested above. I was cringing they were so tight, you could see the nipple beginning to bend, but I just rocked the mole grips gently and they eventually they came loose. Replaced with stainless nipples and bled...

Couldn't see a ref to 182 specifically though .
I thought I had another brake pad to research 🙈.
If RC8s didn't exist (:tonguewink:) would Mintex 1155 be a decent option for light track use? They seem decent value compared to Ferodo & CL.
I've been spared . TBF, I kinda acknowledged it might not be a great idea in the first place :innocent:.
I did, and a friend (I've disowned him now 😂) mentioned it to me too, which is why I was inquisitive.
.
You could always refer to this (http://www.cliosport.net/threads/whats-this-its-just-in-front-of-the-gearstick.797408/) horrendous guff if you really want to rip me to shreds :tired::smile:!
My car has done barely 10-15k miles since having the cam belt changed, but it's getting on for 5 years now, so presumably the belt needs changing because the rubber perishes after such a long time. But what about the pulleys? Is there deterioration over time or just from mileage?
What I'm...
I think solid top mount bearings don't last particularly long either, especially ones exposed to the elements a lot -> i.e. dailies.
I recently refurbed my solid KTR mounts and like them on track, feels a bit sharper (less vague) up front, but not dramatically different. Sadly, on the road the...
So, what about the short flexi hoses at the rear wheels, why don't they get changed? Are they less flexible than the other four and so no benefit in swapping for braided?
That's a good price for the gauge, I like that! I'll check the other stuff before investing.
Can most of these bushes be checked myself (mechanically minded, but inexperienced)? I'll do a search of course.
Top mounts were newly refurbished KTR solid versions, I could always go back to standard...
So what I thought I'd experienced as warped discs previously was just a speed associated vibration through the brake pedal. But shortly into a track day at Combe yesterday I was getting a drumming noise and vibration through the pedal on braking, again speed dependant, but I was surprised that...
