If the cars been kerbed or had a front/side impact the car will need to be jigged to check the position of the suspension mounting points. This will probably have to be done by an accident repair co or by a Ford dealer. If the suspension points are OK then the control arms/struts/bushes etc will...
Billabong, my dealer recently replaced the whole sunroof assembly on my 2003 1.6, and so far, so good. So, if done properly it can be made to operate quietly. Dont give up yet. They also replaced the creaking gland plate behind the steering wheel and that too is now quiet. They have replaced the...
A fact of life .... as we humans get older all our wobbly bits tend to sag and hang a bit lower. So must be the same for our cars. Nothing to worry about ;)
On the contrary, my Reno dealer has been really great. Ive had a good few problems with my 2003 1.6 16V (8 warranty sessions in the garage so far). They are trying their very best to sort my problems out. I always get a smile from the staff and get the car washed each time too! Well done...
Standard 16" rims (I think they suit the car well). The above picture was taken with -40mm AVOs. It is now higher on Eibach Pros :( but handles better.
The engine mount under the battery is known to be slack on some 172s. Reno should know about this! Also there is also a known problem with the suspension top mounts on some 172/Cups. Again Reno know about this and have recently issued a mod instruction.
A 40mm drop is a bit too low for the MK2 172 IMO. Great on smooth roads but tend to bottom out at the front on the fast B roads. Also the front wheels rub the liners on full lock. Looks good though. I recently dicthed my AVOs for Eibach Pros (using standard 16" rims). Handling is improved but...
Have a look at http://www.cliosport.nu/3_3_1.asphttp://www.cliosport.nu/3_3_1.asp
I actually did the opposite to this and fitted MK1 clusters to my MK2 172! Takes about 5 mins per side to swap the wires over.
Sorry mate. Been far too busy at work the last few weeks!! Havent even had a chance to drive the 172 either for 2 weeks!! ...... Sacralege:(. If I get a chance this weekend I will try and take a few more. I was planning to take a set for the Cliosport gallery anyway.
Heres my original just to...
Theres nothing wrong with any of the open induction filters. As Chris has said K&N have been in the game longer than most. I have used K&N filters on most of my previous cars (IK and panels). They will just not work correctly if you do not feed them with cold air. If you dont want to do any air...
Neil .... theres one in Dunfermline, so does it have a Cliosport sticker? Aint seen this one. They look well sweet. BTW Neil, isnt time you parted with your hard earned fiver and become a member? :D
Its not just a problem on the 172! My 1.6 also has the same problem. Reno have changed the runners twice but it still rattles. I had the runners replaced on my 172 and it has been fine since (lucky). I think Reno have tolerance problems between their seats/runners. Ive recently adopted a new...
From what Ive seen in Top gear / Mags I think the new V6 will have the clear edge on the Cup now. Most of the MK2 mods have been biased towards handling. With the extra power, it will also blow the Cup in terms of straight line performance. The V6 has now reached the excellence it deserves?
If we are talking 172s here or other variants with CC, at this time of year I just hit the re-circulation button. This automatically switches on the AC and gets the temp inside the cabin as quickly as poss to the CC temp setting. In the winter time the demist function also switches on the AC...
I enquired about the K-Tec spoiler fitted to their silver 172 as shown below. David says it comes in at £140 + VAT (made of fibreglass). Dont know about you but Im severely tempted!!! (BTW, I also have the Koncept roof spoiler fitted as shown in this picture. If its the same quality as that I...
Once the six torx screws are removed there are are about 4 plastic pop fixings holding the spoiler in place (making you think it is stuck down). Give it a sharp push upwards and the spoiler will be free (after removing the H/L braking connection and washer pipe). Whole operation takes about 5-10...
I agree with Simon. When myself and Gibbo did Neils we did as follows ( a while since I did this so may be a bit flakey!);
(Note: following a previous thread on this subject you must have a NEW ECU from RSport otherwise this will NOT work (car wont start). Apparently the immobiliser codes are...
Good choice mate. You souldnt be disappointed. Youll notice a big difference in performance against the 1.2. Mine was really tight when new. Run it in as per the book to 600 odd miles then start to build it up in stages to the red line over the next 200- 300 miles. Youll find that it really...
Yep got mine a few weeks ago following purchase of my Mar 2003 1.6 Dyn. If Reno spent this money on producing better car quality it would probably be better received by owners!! And as for the crap they send from Customer Services (folder + sh*te)!! LOL
Rob, I used a B&D hot air paint stripper. Bit hotter than a hairdryer and peeled the Elf sticker off in a oner. Watch though the glass doesnt get too hot!!
