I think EVO summed things up quite nicely in the July issue myself:
"I think that most sentient beings appreciate that the speed kills message is an over simplistic one. But equally its fatuous to claim that speed has no effect on the severity of accidents, and only a fool would argue against...
You want to get a mate with a Scoob to drive around for a bit and record the sound for you. Then all you do is pop it on a cd and drive around with it on the stereo, windows down so everyone can hear - hey presto !
Id love to be in the position to be able to afford to spend that sort of money on a car... *sigh*
In all honesty I dont think there is too much else in with a shout for the money, (obviously depending on personal taste and priorities) if we are talking new but obviously if secondhand options...
How true about that fecking biting point. Worst thing is the usual sequence of events is to stall then upon restarting youll sit and spin the front wheels for what seems like a few minutes before finally getting going... doh!
I have to drive a 1.6 Focus for work in the week so as you can...
What a great thread, and still nice and civil too :D
As above I think few would argue that newer is better in most ways ..broadly speaking. Of course there is the endless tug of war that now goes on between power and weight (all the toys and modern safety gubbins come at a price after all). I...
Try playing a few dealers off against each other and go for the one that offers you the best deal. You WILL definitely get offered more than that for your Scoob its just a question of how much Renault are prepared to budge on the 182 figure so their figures match up. Also if you are going to be...
Well for me good handling is a lot about what information the car is feeding back to you (either through the steering wheel or the seat) and in turn how much confidence this gives you. Some cars grip really well but without letting you know how far you can push before things get interesting. The...
Well having owned an RB5 Impreza for a year then having chopped it in for a Cup Ill give you my thoughts.
Make no mistake Scoobs are very effective ground covering tools and will effortlessly cruise at 3 figures all day long (when not getting fuel..lol!) and feel like they are going half that...
I would be inclined to leave the cat wrapped in a bag in the boot though I am guessing that (like most people) they arent going to be overly surprised at a vocal Scoob.
As said the price of change is the only figure that matters so I would hunt around for the best deal for you. I changed from...
Id say thats pretty damned good in the circumstances (no no claims and having written off an Impreza recently).
Whilst age obviously helps the no claims seem to make the big difference (assuming you dont live in a riot area or similar..). I am 29 and have 10 year no claims and am paying under...
Nowt to do with the T/C as this would ruin any attempt at getting a quick time - more down to the different (wider and grippier) rubber fitted to the 182.
Theres bugger all difference in the real world and as has been said so many times the driver is the key in any head to head.
Thats the sort of luck I have with cars too and yet mates who treat their cars like sh!t seem to get off rather lightly - wheres the justice in that eh ?
Worst thing was when my last car decided to slip the timing belt on the key moments before I was due to pick up the buyer in it. He had a...
Some cars do that to you. My old RB5 Scoob used to disguise its pace very well and it was only the speedo that gave the game away as the car was just so smooth and fuss free in acceleration compared to anything I was used to.
You have hit the nail on the head there mate.
When I have been ragging around in the 1.6 Focus all week I get back in my Cup and it feels stupidly fast. Ill save a fortune on mods with this approach too ;)
A meaningless list as it stands..
Officially 4 seconds was the agreed figure to account for the difference between wet and dry laps. I still recall the week that the Gallardo posted its (wet) time and then doing the maths and working out that it was (at the time) the fastest car they had...
