As already said to you on msn Ben, excelent website!
Was surprised when saw the first website that you would not go the "normal" engine tuning websites... no crap photos that are not your work, good articles that actually are from your own work/development, etc
You are a detail o'holic but...
I'm in the middle of sorting some engine mods on a RT. This laguna SPI is one of them.
You have to open up the inlet hole on the inlet manifold for 1,8mm diameter or so.
I'm also doing some mild headwork and inlet manifold porting with getting rid of the water circuit (here we never get...
I changed a couple of times the steering colum on my RT. Swaped for a valver one when I got the std RT one welded. The valver one went crap in a few miles, just in time to get the RT back.
That rubber is a real pain... but when you do it for the second time will get it done from 30min to...
I just want to say... WHO CARES ABOUT BHP NUMBERS?? What matters is how quik the car is on road/track!!! Forget BHP and give me times in SECONDS!
0-60mph
0-100mph
1/4mile
etc
You can have a 1000bhp engine BUT if you cant put that power to the ground... leave to rust cause its not worthit.
The 2lts zetec engine is a massive powerplant when properly turboed. Do it mate!!! Im also into Fords and got to say they are great!
You can try to get the valver gearbox into it but I would really doubt it could handle the torque. Also, youd need a ATB diff from quaife to get the power down...
Thats great news mate!
A 290º cams on a DOHC will give you power band from 3000rpm up to 8000rpm. You might get peak power somewhere near 7000rpm, and since youre using a F7R bottom (which i guess is std) its not good to go over 7200rpm.
This are my thoughts and seems that Ben has done the...
oh well... wanting to go something different? This is RENAULT AND NOT FORD!!! You cant play "legos" with renault parts like we do with ford. :(
The best thing is to go F7R highly moded. BenR is doing an engine that its showing up to be very good in power all around... well the cams are a...
Ever heard of water injection? Water is an anti-detonation, so air humidity is something you want on a high CR engine. Ok, its not taken too serious, but if you had a modified high boost engine, water injection is something that you should have a look.
The J7R engine doenst fit a clio.
Ive seen a couple of cossie powered fiestas, but the idea was cuting the whole damn car to fit the gearbox. :(
The valver engine can be turboed! It can be done properly and unleashes very good power. Talk to NickRead.
My first car was a Renault Super5 GTL (1.1lts C block) when I was 17.
Lasted one year. Had problems with a wall. :(
Than I bought a Renault Super5 GTR (1.3lts C block) that lasted 3 years.
It was too much. It was actually raining inside the car and it didnt have a sunroof! LOL
Took me...
Sad to hear that.
Youre not the first one to have problems with vernier pulleys. Why they dont make it more realiable? They want to make it light but they go fukcing everything!
btw, AWT has already looked into this and is providing a very good vernier pulleys.
RN2004 cams by kent are a lumpy...
I missed this meeting!! grrrr I was 350km away and my clio isnt finished. :(
I hope I join you guys in the next one, even if its a small meet just for coffee and chat. I will go on the fiesta btw :p
T28 is the best one for the 172.
you can get the ERST S2 garrett T3 really cheap! It wont lag that much on a 2lts engine.
The bigger the compressor, the lower the ACTs. What makes the turbo lag is the turbine and not the compressor, so go for the biggest turbine you can get (up to T34 will...
You cant get 13" on the valver... it will hit the calipers, but you can get 14" :P
Here you go

BenR, FINALLY the new valver manifold is coming together. I thought you had thrown out the window the idea cause this one came along long time ago.
Nice to know its on the way.... for good. :)
