I agreed to buy my 182 about 2 hours after it went up for sale, but then again I wanted a car in Inferno. If I'd wanted a blue one I'd have been much more careful about how much I paid, as there are so many of them around. Nice liquid yellow, inferno and petrol blue cars will always sell fairly...
The PIAA ones are the business. OK, they cost more, but they are a silicone blade - you clean the screen first, then fit the blades and run them on the screen dry or 10 minutes. This leaves a layer of silicone on your screen, making it harder for dirt to stick, and water flies off. They don't...
Brian's advice is spot on as usual. Personally I wouldn't touch the car you've asked about with a bargepole - there are plenty of good ones out there with proper history for less money.
I've had a proper look, and I reckon my price is low - no offence intended. I reckon if you advertise it at £5250 and see what response you get you may see £5000 for it. I don't think you'll see much more though, at the end of the day it's 6 years old and French.....
I don't live in Driffield, but I was brought up there. Lived on Lowndes Park when I was a lad, and spent most of my time down Kings Mill (which I suspect is now a housing estate ?). Nice part of the world.
I've gone from a 911 to a 182. It's nowhere near as quick in a straight line, but it's much cheaper to own, and great fun. Not much point trying to squeeze a lot of extra power out though, if you want to modify one to make your journeys faster stick to brakes and suspension IMO.
Have you got AA recovery or similar ? Maybe you could "break down" and get taken home on the back of a trailer ? Failing that, I got a car delivered for £1 / mile ONE WAY only a while ago off some bloke advertising on Ebay. By the time you've paid for fuel there and back it probably wouldn't...
I'd be spending my weekends parked outside the dealers with flourescent signs all over my car if it was me. The fact you haven't assaulted anyone yet amazes me.
I spoke to the guy who runs Porsche-Apart the other week, he told me someone had bought a second hand set of pads for a 996 from him the day before - unbelievable.
Sounds like you haven't bedded them in properly to me I'm afraid. New pads need to be warmed up gently, allowed to cool, then warmed up a bit more, repeat a few times. If you don't do this you don't cure the resins in the pad material and they can't deal with the heat generated by high speed...
What he said
I've still got a soft spot for my old Audi 80 Sport too. And my second 3.2 Carrera. And my DC2. Then there was that E30 M3....probably a couple of other too, if I start to think about it.
10K is Trophy money. Why pay the same for a car which may be difficult to sell ? Yellow isn't everyone's preferred colour, even though I think it's great. I paid £8400 for my Inferno FF182 with 18000 miles. Even with the lower mileage on this car I can't see another £1500 in it. £500, or £750 maybe.
Takes me back to when I was shopping for a DC2 Integra. Cheapest one in Honda garages was £12,600. The one I ended up buying (which was the same age as the Honda garage one, but with 40,000 mile less !) cost me £9300.
The phrase "anal rape" springs to mind - but hey, if you were happy at the time, why worry ? You've bought a great car, keep it for a few years and it won't hurt so much. Just do your research next time, or take your own lube with you.
