Front is suppossed to be lower than back otherwise front will feel light.
The rear will be stepping out becuase the brake bias valve will need adjusted...that and the fact your on 10p tyres are your problems i think.
Or buy a motorbike if you really want to go fast!
Fair enough ploughing money into 'yet another quick car' if thats your thing but IMO its a bit daft when you could spend under 1k and have a bike that'll blow any of them away...
I'm going to give it a go.
Chris H on retro-renault seems to think it'll be ok and last well enough and it will fit as all JB series boxes have the same casing.
Ta! :)
250bhp or so is pretty much the limit on any clio gearbox so you're fooked straight away TBH for massive power.
I'd stick with BB's turbo on a 1.8 or if you must, or a 2ltr on TBs.
Another option might be getting a 1.2 for 50quid plus two s/h 1.8 engines for 50quid piece then go see EP...
Folks,
going to be putting an RSI lump into my car soon and i'm looking into gearboxes.
The lump will come with an RSI box but my 1.2 item is on far less milage (40k) - i know the 1.2 will fit but will it handle the power and what affect will it have ofnaccleration etc?
My 1.2 is a JB1...
They're ok if the box is in good nick/can cope but TBH i wouldn't bother on a 16v.
If you think its hard to get into first in the morning get ready for it to get worse with the B&M on, being steel it gets very cold in the winter which makes it damn uncomfortable to use and as northy says...
Approximately how much would a garage take to do an engine swap on my mk1 1.2?
It'd be a straight rip-the-old-1.2-out, lob the new RSI in...no pfaffing with parts replacement etc.
Opinions....
Last week i ordered a cambelt kit for my car using the part number in my (old) copy of dialogies and unfortunately i appear to have been given a different part going by the number on the box!
Can someone tell me if i have actually been given the correct part (i.e. the part number i used has...
As above, can someone post pics of theirs?
Ideally need pics of the butterfly itself, how it mounts, plus ISCV (if you have one)...a quick jot down of the butterfly size would also be a great help!
Cheers!
lol true but it wouldn't be pushed that hard...i'm just interested to know if theres any major limiting factors with my engine without going too mad.
Plan is a bit more power on a budget...i've heard a lot of the 16v boys on about using GSXR bodies with a cheapo aftermarket ECU so was toying...
A few questions;
- On a 1.2 8V DIET engine - whats involved/would be required to completely remove the rev limit?
- On a 1.2 8v, what is the max (roughly) rpm will the rocker assembly cope with?
- How much would it cost to have a dcoe manifold made up if there isn't one currently...
FSE's are a bit of a waste of time, although they can help to oversome worn parts. Personally speaking, if you're going at it from that angle you should be sorting the engine rather than trying to work around things by messing with fuel pressure.
Ecoteks = don't bother tho.
