Haha, they are slow m8...i've got one (actually went from a 1.8 16v to one) but they are fun to drive if you tinker with them...argueably as much as quicker cars IMO.
But listen to the people above, just strip it and sort the brakes and handling. If you haven't got bored of it after a year or...
Headwork, cam and laguna 1.8 SPI Throttle body would give a GOOD gain.
You could also slap a 1.6 8v bottom end from a megane on...its a direct fit, should add more torque.
With all that you'd probably see 100bhp or therabouts. For more you'll need a different engine...1.8 16v, 2ltr 16v...
RSI wheels will fit on a valver no problem - winston16v had them on his old black on for a while but they are the smallest wheel that'll fit over the 16v brake setup.
You get an entire williams setup onto a RT or any other clio no bother.
You just need the willy driveshafts, shocks, springs, wishbones, hubs (if yours aren't 54mm spacing) and the 16v/williams wings.
Willy shaft will mate to an RT gearbox without any problem...it is a JB series after all.
'Cruise type clubs' is where i'm coming from - i appreciate there are a fair few 'proper' enthusiates going but nonetheless the cruise brigade will be there...and all that goes with them.
Put it this way, you wouldn't park a F1 car on a council estate...same thing for 0001 at...
I don't have a problem with CS getting 0001.
I have more of a problem with wether FCS is an appropriate environment to display such a car and, personally speaking, i don't think it is.
Lets face it, i don't see owners of many other historic cars putting them up for contact with the...
Williams F1 won the championship roundabout that time...they used the williams name on the clio to get mroe sales/commemorate the event...nothing else.
Aye, about 50quid if you goto a proper scrapyard and are willing to remove/pick it up yourself. If not then you'll be paying a bit more but theres heaps about...one on ebaty atm...
What 1.2 engine do you have atm m8 - the SPI or MPI engine?
If its the MPI you could put the 16v engine in, likely on the same mounts as they're both D-series engines but you're problem will be wiring, or cost to do it.
At the end of the day don't bother - if you want more power, put a 1.4...
Emm no, the early engines are better as the heads have straight ports so flow better.
1.8 TB is larger but can be made to fit...its a common swap. To really make the best of it you need headwork though as you won't get much on its own.
It will, i've done it and it was miles better than the BB system, miles better than std...with the last two you couldn't notice any difference but with no silencers you could tell immediately. In any case, backpressure is mainly defined by the manifold...
You're not going to get a noticeable gain by putting a stainless system on as is...you really need to remove all silencers bar the back box for that. I'd get a devil straight through centre section from motorsportworld, a decat then a any backbox you like...much better.
Easiest is to plug an electric drill into the speedo unit and wind them round.
Beyond that you *should* be able to swap the actual numbers off your old dials but its a nightmare as the dial face is very easy to mark with fingerprints which you can't get off therby making them look shite.
