I've got to go and collect some 16" wheels tomorrow with tyres and am just wondering if they will fit in the back with the seats down?
My GF was planning to come with me but if they don't fit I'll have to leave her at home, lol.
I haven't seen many of either 15" or 16", I'm looking for the former. I've seen the odd set come up, but many need a refurb and are a billion miles away, so its not really worth my while in many cases. So if you're rubbish at searching, so am I !
Sell them to me then!
Seriously though, I've seen a pic of some anthracite TD1.2s on a silver Ph1 and honestly, I'm not too sure about them, especially with the standard ride height. They look kind of "unsubstantial" I feel... yet I realise it's more about how the car drives, but still! I'd be...
Which colour and why?
I'm actually thinking these look as good as the F1's that I've been after for so long, but they are cheap to buy, seemingly well rated, and significantly lighter than the F1s which can't be a bad thing.
However, I'm undecided on the colour.
Silver for the OEM look - a...
I like original cars but that looks better than standard anyway to me.
Stuff like your wheels, recaros etc wouldn't put me off. Cheap coilovers or lowering springs and noisy exhausts do.
A couple of other Q.s people.
Do I just need to buy springs or is there anything else I will need to buy?
Are phase 1 & 2 springs the same?
I've seen these on ebay...
Thanks for that opinion, that is very helpful.
My car would rarely be used on track, it would be 99% a road car, so sounds like standard might be the way to go, but I welcome any other comments.
Indeed, but I think what I want to know is how do they compare with standard stuff in ride, handling.
I think we're in agreement about these Apex springs (if thats what they are). Crap.
My Phase 1 currently has (I believe) Apex lowering springs on.
The ride is very harsh, and IMO not really suitable for many of the roads I drive on. Fine on billiard smooth roads, hopeless on anything else.
Given how I am planning to restore to standard (ish), I am just wondering if standard...
Phase 1 Clios for me, whether 172 or V6, I just love the look. That somewhat ugly but aggressive front end, the simplicity of the details like the rear lights, the whole design is just less fussy than the Phase 2s. The V6 Phase 1 is probably THE favourite for me, a little mental.
To be fair...
Well I've put a wanted ad in for some OZ F1s as I've just paid for the membership.
Balls to selling it. I wanted a Clio. I've got one. May not have been the best purchase I've made but I've got it now.
Thing is its lowered, and when the wheels are on full lock they are virtually touching the arches.
I can't access the parts area as I'm not a member.
TBH, I'm half thinking of selling the car as I'm thinking I want to put a standard exhaust (currently too loud), suspension (currently too low)...
Cheers coby.
I'll keep my eye out for some F1s then, if I can find any half way locally.
Should have known buying a modded car that I'd end up spending money returning it to stock.
Thats what I would like to replace them with, if I replaced them.
If not though, what size / stud pattern etc wheel do I need if I do decide to replace?
So, my new Phase 1 comes shod with what appear to be 17" OZ Superturismos.
Normally, I am a bit of a purist, and stick with the wheels the manufacturer puts on the cars, but a little research tells me that the wheels I have are barely heavier than the standard ones (both in the 9kg range), so...
Better the devil you know.
I'd fix it.
In the past, I've got rid of cars because they needed jobs doing, and then ended up buying a POS and regretting it.
My new (to me) Phase 1 needs work, but I'll be keeping this one for a good while.
I like it. He does offer a money back guarantee though... hmmmm!
Yeah I saw that. I'm assuming they mean a 182. Who knows, lol.
They make an 18 bhp claim for the Pug 306 GTI-6 too.
If I had a turbo of some description, I'd probably go for it.
One of my friends works for a mobile remapping company up here, and just out of interest, I decided to have a look if my 172 was one of the vehicles they could remap, and it turns out it is!

Its claiming a power hike of 17 bhp which...
Cheers g@z. If you have seen the state of whats on there then I'd be surprised if anyone bought what is on it now... though I guess I may be surprised, since someone bought it in the first place!
I think you're right though, its probably going to have to be standard.
The booming is something I definitely DONT want. My 182 exhaust when I had that didn't exactly show signs of longevity. So I guess a stainless exhaust designed for quietness is the way forward, but most of the time in my experience they are almost always louder even when you don't want them to be.
Yeah I know of them. Just down the road from me actually. I've had work from them before, no complaints, but there was a long waiting list, and I don't know how much longer I can stand that horrendous exhaust that's on it now!
I've just picked up a Clio 172. The exhaust that has been fitted looks like something that someone salvaged from a banger race. It also sounds absolutely horrific - loud, boomy and chavvy.
I'm after a nice quiet exhaust - 172s don't sound all that great anyway, so I don't really want it to...
No, I've already had a full fat 182. IMO it was over-tyred, had poor throttle response and too refined. From what I've read about the Phase 1, it fixes pretty much everything I disliked about the 182. I was just wondering how the Cup compares, but, I think I've made my mind up on the Phase 1...
