Not catching at all. How easy or hard is it to replace? It's already had it's Bonnet catch done.

Hi guys, Another problem on the 172! A few months ago I had to get a new bonnet cable fitted as my bonnet wouldnt open. Now I opened the bonnet today to clean my air filter and then tried to put it down and it didnt "clunk" as if its locked. Lifted it and came up. :S So what can I do about...

It will make the noise and vibration more harsh but it stops that lurching you sometimes get at higher rpm. I felt like on it's old mounts it was like a dog on a leesh but sigh the Ktec ones it was much tighter in general.

Ahhh makes sense then.

Then you will probably need a better clutch and brakes, then you will need it to handle better and then you could of got something fast in the first place IMO.

+1 I just bought a new caliper as my old one was seized.

Was your first car a push bike? Can you not remap a dci to get more power?

Has your belt on the cup snapped? If not are you suggesting changing the engine rather than the belt?

Im going to clean my air filter too just incase. Does anyone know if by using live view? in the rstuner I can check if my pre cat lambda is working properly? So if its not that is it just coolant sensor and thermostat?

It's either your dogbone mount or your manifold bashing I would say. Could be wrong though.

I wouldnt mix front and back either though, thats just IMO but the clio's rear end wants to come out when its snowing sometimes. I think some rear end weight would help though.

Is your box making any funny sounds or whining? Honestly mate if it annoys you alot then get it sorted but its common. My brother had a 106 gti and they are weak boxes but the change can still be made fast. Just it a little slower when changing I bet it wont do it anymore.

A gearbox oil change will let it be a little smoother but if its crunching your shifting to fast or your box is failing. Its a common fault as you have said and a 2nd hand box will most likely suffer the same issues. You can just shift slower or get your box refurbished from a trader on here.

I wouldnt mix tyres in the winter either, personally. The nankangs are ment to be pretty good

Good to know its on all of them like this. Its the wheel arch you pop a few poppers and unscrew a few most likely rusty and rounded torx screws and its behind there.

Its in the passenger wheel arch on the 172 but not sure if 182 is different.

I replaced my ariel base and its actually getting signal. The wires for the aerial base might have popped out?

So a little update, I've changed my exhaust as my old one was blowing. Fitted a decat and changed the pre cat lamba. At 50mph it shoot up to about 45-50mpg but when going 60mph it starts about 27mpg and climbs up to about 36 and at 70mph I average about 35mpg. Now that's better than what I was...
