Depends if you're telling the insurance, they will absolutely slam you on it for any engine mod, prob be more to insure than a 1.6 dynamique init.
Could probably get a garage to do it for a G plus cost of engine.
Ali
They last alright, but if you get lower springs it will put extra stress on the shocks, f*ck it! get coilovers!
Are you after performance or looks?
Ali
Just google all the brands, like red dot, black diamond, green stuff, brembo. Find cheapest quotes.
OR!!! get some brakes from someone who's done a conversion on a 172/182, that way you get calipers and discs n s**t for cheap cheap!
Brake fluid change isn't that hard, just make sure you have a...
For me it was going to be about £65 plus vat plus carriage for hillpower bend and throttle housing, the throttle housing was £45 plus vat, that kind of price. Theres a website if you want with samco stuff on it, like. . .bare samco hosing. Ding me.
Ali
oh yea forgot to add, I'd say go for one with a guarantee, the halfords "yuasa" brand have up to 4 year gurantee, v useful if you fu*k about with subs and the like!
Ali
Nah depends where you buy the battery, like at halfords the 075 is the model number, as with some other motor factors, the rating will say like 450 CCA (cold cranking amps). As long as the terminals make good connection it won't matter what size battery you have, bigger is better tbh, you can't...
Take of your battery terminal and replace, make sure all wires are plugged in. . normal stuff, make sure there is nothing obstructing the fan, i.e it spins freely. Your handbook says which fuse is which, unless I'm overlooking something???

C!rt, your car sounds like a money pit, and not the good, ooo new wheels!, kind. If it keeps happening may be cheaper in the end to get a renault dealer to look at it, else someone on here is selling the whole 1.4 lump for 50 pizzles ;)
Ali
I'm sorry but those seats are absolute batty, what's up with the shape. What a beautiful motor though, top notch (time for a bit of tyre kicking me thinks =D)
Ali
Back to that whole 57i kit vs. Viper, so I've been informed the viper is right on a bend, which means the air going into the filter is going in faster and creates a vortex within the enclose filter, giving more power, also the heat shield prevents the air heating up before reaching the filter...
Thanks, the clutch isn't slipping, could it be clutch cable or something of that consortium?
Ok, this will sound weird, but sometimes when I push the clutch in, it feels inclined not to come out again as easily as I would like, i.e sticking at the bottom slightly? It's all pi**in' me...
I'd presume they are, but why can you not just ring renault anyway? They can only say no, and if they do, just go in and kick up a fuss. The paintwork is covered so why shouldn't the wheels be?
Ali
I started a thread on this subject before, was advised my clutch was on the way out, thankfully it's fine.
Basically my car used to do 30 in third at 2k revs, now it does 30 in fourth at 2k revs. Pain in the a!se I know!
Any suggestions on what the problem might be and how to fix it? I've got a...
If you go to halfords they give you at least a 3 year guarantee on any battery, and how are they to know what you've been running? Otherwise just get a trickle charger to keep it topped up overnight, worthy investment IMO
Ali
I'd say go for either Alpine or Pioneer. They have the best scanning screens and the best flexibility on equalising. More expensive but worth the cost.
Ali
Ah man the joys of modified car ownership, our plight is a tough one. Good luck. I'm with a company called lifesure, they are boom ting cheap but not sure about mods. . .havn't told ;)
Ali
From earlier, don't worry about the airbag, use your head. You're brain is there to soak up any impact :)
Make sure you get the wheels straight when the new steering wheel goes on. The wheels turn when you're grunting and straining to undo the retaining bolt.
Ali
DONT GET THAT TYRE WELD SH*T!
Work at rubbish halfords and we have a guy that used to work as a rep. If you use that stuff it can bind to the wheel and next time you change the tyre it can lead to the whole wheel being changed, ok if you have steels but on alloys can be costly. . .
Ali
Sounds off topic but you mentioned you have a leaky sunroof? Common problem on mk1's. . .or any older car with sunroof. The most amazing thing with mine is how simple it was to fix, guy at work told me. If you have green stuff on the sill, its mould and will stop the rubber springing up and...
Cheers guys, hope its not. Might have a freakin leaky head gasket as well. Luckily got a whole headgasket set from work for a tenner, might as well get it anyway.
I have a mk1 1.4 and it's over revving quite a bit, idles at 900, does 30 in 4th at 2K revs. Used to do 40 in 4th at 2K revs.
Any suggestions what this might be would be fantastic,
Cheers ALi
