I've just bought a new one and didn't realise there was such a difference
new one is about an inch taller than the old one and there's no way it's going to fit :(

if you're replacing just the pump, you need to drill out the 2 rivets on the bottom so you can remove the outer plastic case... the rest should be straight forward :)
if you have access it's easy peasy, yeh
it's held in by that big plastic circular thing... tap that round (anti clockwise) with a screwdriver/hammer and then you should be able to lift the pump housing straight out
are you going to replace with another valver unit? or go for an uprated pump...
So I've just taken delivered of a shiney new 172 radiator.
unfortunately, for some reason, it has a hole on it to plug in a fan switch like you get on mk1s. my mk1 switch fits so it's m22x1.25.
I don't need/want this switch as the 172 fan is controlled by the ecu, so where can i get a...
