I believe there is a limp home mode which comes into operation if the lambda signal packs up. All that happens is that it runs as if there were no lambda sensor. I dont think theres a reduced rev limit of any kind, its too basic for that.
LOL Chris 1.4RT youve pretty much said it all mate. Thats how our legal system works. But the flipside is that if youre sure that you didnt do it and you can afford a lawyer, you can really stitch them up good and proper and get the CPS to pay the costs. The reason why this doesnt happen very...
That is bloody cheap, get a load of them now, theyre not even the old GSD2 design, theyre the new ones! Best all-round road tyres you can get I reckon.
There are lots of things that could have been wrong...it might not have been you driving, it might have been another car the same as yours with false plates, there could be other cars in the frame, the gatso timing could be out, the speed limit may be illegal. TBH youve already admitted you were...
From what Ive seen, non-standard they wont either. Or at least no-ones modified one and put in some proper times to prove it. In fact the only new Clio that has done over a ton at the line, that I know of, is the orange 1.2 at York - IIRC stripped out totally, tuned 172 engine, plus nitrous...
LOL...dreamers...
I love valvers as much as anyone, Ive had one for 5 years and stuck with it through thick and thin. But there is no way on earth that a valver is anywhere near as quick as a 172 or 182. Its just not. When you ask the question is one car as fast as another, youre not talking...
Its not even worth bothering about. Ive run 18s on my Clio before, it has been running for the last few years on 17s, theres not a lot in it. Youll just find that the speedo will read much more accurately or slightly under instead of over (i.e. if it says 100mph you could actually be doing 102)...
LOL Pigme yes chroming is a lot better but thats not what he asked about...
I had my inlet manifold polished because the shape is too complex to chrome. The basic thing is that the surfaces need to all be totally flat and smooth to take chrome properly, so unless you can polish the whole thing...
Seconded. R&A are the UK distributors AFAIK. Well thats where I got my Mattig mirrors from. Just one thing to bear in mind. They are designed for LHD cars so they might need some modding to get the mirror angles right for a RHD car.
lagerlout pretty much said it. Its a good 10 years since I did electronics at uni, but basically any wires running alongside each other can induce a current in each other i.e. as if by magic, they can create current in the other wire. Thats how transformers work.
So if you ran a big power...
Any metal can be polished, its basically a case of supplying enough friction. Often something like brushed aluminium can be polished with just some Silvo/Autosol and a rag. With bigger jobs or if youve got a rougher textured surface to get through you need mechanical means, i.e maybe wet & dry...
Hi Spec are bloody good stoppers from my experience. I certainly wouldnt trust anything smaller on mine at the moment (325mm discs and 4 pot calipers). KTEC and BB (not sure about GDI) are just resold HiSPec kits.
I understand where people are coming from regarding the value for money thing...
But thats the whole point...its a Clio. The reason why this kind of argument never gets settled is because there is no right answer. Some people like modding little cars to make them quick and give people a fright, no matter how impractical/silly/expensive/time-consuming it is (A). Other people...
If I had the money Id buy it Lou. I keep thinking about getting a WIlliams as a runaround, a 1 or 2 would do nicely. Not a 3 cos I dont want a sunroof.
True, true. The foreign markets had valvers a year earlier than us, pre-cat cars they were.
Well if anyones interested, my Clio turbo, with no cat (and no silencers come to think of it!) just sailed through the emissions test...
I had one for a couple of years but sold it in the end. It was good but its just too much equipment to be practical really. In the end I wired it in properly, GPS aerial in the sunroof with the wiring running all out of sight, radar detector in the front grille, power wired in under the dash...
Exactly. Im looking into getting a Target laser transponder for mine, only to open my garage door when I get home you understand, because an active laser jammer would be interfering with an officer in his duty;). Luckily, if it picks up a laser signal and thinks its its garage door counterpart...
LOL well I know a lot of you on here and Im not taking anyones side, but Mark (yes I do remember you btw!), in fairness, power DOES equal top speed. Admittedly, there are other factors at play, final drive, aerodynamics etc, but one thing that is not an issue in any way is power/weight ratio...
Loads of SP30s, in fact almost one every 3-4 years at least, so that my licence has never been clean the whole 13 years Ive been driving. Recently managed to get out of the mediocre realms of SP offences and got a TS10 for running a red light because of a car right on my tail. As usual they...
Yes there is an argument for saying that once you get into the 200+ club in a fwd car, youre fighting a losing battle, and even for saying that once you get beyond a certain point, more power gives you worse 0-60 times...
But the fact is that its cool to have over 200 bhp in a fwd car, from a...
So the D+ is the input for the field current rather than an output? When I looked at the two brushes (dont know what else to call them, they were like carbon blocks), one of them was worn down to 6mm long, the other was about 10mm. Both had been worn so that the end wasnt squared off but had a...
Bottom line is it will eventually happen. But theyve been saying it will for years now, and nothings been done. This may be because of the huge numbers of people with radar and laser detectors who might be a little upset if their hundreds of pounds worth of hardware is suddenly made illegal...
In my experience when BB first got their rollers in they were way out. After a few months they had them sorted out and since then they have been much more accurate than any other rollers Ive ever used. And Ive spent a lot of time putting my car on rollers, and debating rolling roads over the...
LOL Bryan - just because there is no need for it to be any quicker, doesnt mean it should be done. Otherwise wed still all be driving around at 5mph behind a man walking along holding a red flag!
What youre basically saying is that a 172 shouldnt be allowed to have as much straight-line speed...
Ive just got the alternator out and its a Bosch, I think a 90A model but cant be sure. Anyway, Im just looking at it and there are raised letters on the back - W, W, B+ and D+. The Ws dont seem to have any terminals associated with them. THe B+ is the main positive output, a threaded post that...
This ones pretty straightforward. If you wanted to plead not guilty, you should have done so at the side of the road. By accepting the ticket and the fine/points you have stated that you are guilty of the alleged offence. And that is IT. Theres nothing else to be said.
If you hadnt accepted...
No problem Fred, definitely count me in - but see if you can make it either a weekend or weekday during a school holiday - remember in my line of business, I cant book days off, ever. I would be well up for that. Battle of the Clio turbos.
Well...whilst I could also think of many more than 10 cars that look better, I cant agree about it not making the car that much quicker. I dont know about K-Tecs, but Ive been in BBs one a couple of times and that is damn quick, a different league from a normal 172.
