it is worth bearing in mind that this debate (which has been going on for a long time, and not ast v kw specifically) has led to a new and aparently much improved ast set up. maybe it's not so rubbish?
i know what you mean though, it does get a bit heated at times.
from listening to people who have used the ast's (i haven't) the front is quite nervous with a tendancy to understeer.
but as said, it is all down to driving style and preferance. a lot of racers use an understeer biased setup.
i have read your last post, i am being serious when i ask how the adjustment works? i actually can't remember.
also by saying that the kit is due to change, surely that is saying that they accept that the current kit is wrong. are they still selling the old setup?
the point is how they adjust, can you control the different areas seperately?
what i'm saying is that if the high bump or rebound value is too high, regardless of springs, you are more likely to enter a corner unsettled and have less grip.

i'm asking because i had a gaz kit a long time ago with this system and had real issues with the ratio.
for me a track set up needs to have a fairly low high speed value with a higher low speed value...
from listening to peoples comments it sounds like the high speed bump value is/was too hard.
how do the ast's adjust, are there seperate controls for bump and rebound? does anyone know if they have a seperate value for high and low speed movement?
i've used an industrial cleaner called janitol before, spray on neat and the stains just run off. claims to be non acidic and paintwork safe too?!
god knows what's in it, but it works!

i'd say go for the kw's myself, they are the best quality set i've used.

it would be worth considering if you were planning an engine rebuild, but even then the amount of small faults don't suggest a well cared for car.
in my experience cit-ren aren't very helpfull.
i think they are v2's, but if they are v1's check if they are galvanised or inox line, there is a little over £100 difference with the inox line being fully stainless steel.
after all that, i'd be inclined to wonder if it could be a wiring fault somewhere.
has the ecu ever been disconnected?
you are welcome to borrow any of the parts from my car if you want, could save you buying more bits that you don't need.
(although, borrow is the operative word ;))
price wise the v3's are closer to the ast's. i'm pretty sure they would be built to order, so the bolt spacing shouldn't be an issue.
