Agree. I've really notice car struggle when sat in traffic and then moving off. It must get so HOT under there. New air feed has helped but not solved heat soak. I think this will always be the case with most cars to an extent, as the heat is traped under the bonnet when caught in traffic! :dead:
I look forward to hearing about this, as I have recently changed my air feed to the big wide 85mm tubing. Also fitted heatshield to my open air cone filter, which has defo improved things but still can't help feeling the standard air box idea is better
Is the Gen 2 the one that has the extended piping down towards the wheel arch? I'd be interested to see the performance improvements on this over standard K&N gear

Then if you fancy experimenting, get a thermometer under the bonnet and see how much cooler the air is before/after:cool:
Excellent mate. Get some pics up of the new V6. I will see how much your old 182 is up for. But knowing a dealer, and with the info you gave. I would hazard a guess at £9250-£9500
Will post pics later mate. But with it being so hot at the moment there is no real benefit. Unavoidable for any car not to get hot with the weather at the moment. I can confirm since removing the acoustic valve and then adding the heatshield, I have noticed an improvement of low down...
Heat shield had arrived for mine now, so will fit it and see it improves things. All experimental!! Can always go back to the orginal air box if im not happy:nono:
Agree with you on the cone thing, just heard mixed views on removing this valve. Certainly better since I have got more cold air there tho. May go back to standard air box if not happy tho :rasp:
I went for the 85mm mate. Get as large as you can. Speak to andy905 on here for some £19.00 delivered. The 85mm JUST fits behind the headlamp ballast on Full fat 182's, and the 1metre length is just long enough. :)
Exactly, not everything is fitted for a reason. And in the acoustic valves case it is more for roas regualtions than anything else. Maybesomeone from Renault UK can confirm this?? :S
The original 172 never had this valve fitted. The only real benefit I can see, is that in the winter months the valve remains sealed until the engine heats up a little. When I removed this valve the car held back at certain rev ranges. But since fitting the new air feed it has returned it to how...
I removed mine to put new air feed in place, thus reducing the heat soak. So as above by removing it I doubt it changes things, but by adding my new air feed im certain the car has improved acceleration at low revs since doing it. Heatshielding next...
See here about acoustic valve removal, have only heard good things about it since removal

Plus it let me fit my new big 85mm air feed which has improved air flow to the filter. have now ordered heat shield, whoich should help to deter at...
This is where the arguement of 'Gains' is so exagerated. Because as Fred says you don't go around with your bonnet up. The only real way you will get some sort of similarity is with a good air feed away from direct engine heat :approve:
I agree, a good cold air feed is a big factor. See my link on my cold air feed to my K&N 57i. I bought this years ago before I learnt the facts about heat soaking. Have now ordered a heat shield, so hoping this will improve things, but without losing the Induction roar that I have come to love...
How much in BHP/Torgue gains could I expect from this? I have 3.5 inch Hayward & Scott CAT back exhausts (may de-cat eventually), along with K&N 57i open panel filter (heatshield is on order).
