Bought some new shoes for the Clio yesterday off @damianscup and drove to pick them up this morning. Not sure what brand of alloy they are (Previous owner thought BBS, can anyone clarify?) but they're wrapped in Yokohama A048 soft compound tyres all with about 5-6mm tread left. As you can see in...
Don't have an oil temp gauge just a pressure gauge. If I was going to get a temp sensor as well I'd probably just use a sandwich plate on the oil filter and run a braided hose if it was necessary to fit both the pressure and temp sensor to it. If I was going to do it again I wouldn't use a...
Thanks. Actually planning on redo-ing that panel as I want to move the gauges into the bit where the vents were and put the switches on the curved panel. They feel too low when they're down there.
Bought all the stuff I'd need to relocate my battery. Still deciding whether to mount it on the tunnel in the passenger footwell or behind passenger seat. Battyer is a PVR22 Clubsport battery, and I also bought some 4AWG cable, junction box and heavy duty crimp terminals.
Bought some...
Most likely, yeah. There's a load of clips everywhere behind the lower dash holding the sound deadening in. Some of it is also held in by the metal support that hold the airbag and steering wheel (is there a name for it?), not as simple as just unclipping it and pulling it off due to all the...
Pretty much nothing you could remove other than sound deadening. It's the foam type. Here's a picture of my track car with the top and bottom dash removed but nothing else taken out, bit hard to make out whats going on there because it was before I tidied everything up. As for the airbag, you're...
Not much been going on recently, still waiting to get my rollcage sandblasted and painted so can't do much interior work until that's ready. Bought a PVR22 Clubsport battery which should arrive this week, and will be relocated either behind the passenger seat or at the rear of the car somewhere...
Looking to get polycarb windows just for side windows and found these. Seem pretty cheap compared to others available, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

Ah thats good, I just spent a few hours with the heat gun and scraper! Not too bad though. If you're going full weight reduction, how about cutting out the inner shell of the boot and doors? Obviously you'd ideally do this if you've got a cage to keep structural strength.
When I renew my insurance I'm think I may be going for a Subaru Legacy. 4WD, decent power, good for towing, also 'sporty' when you're not towing, seems like a good choice.
Got a few things done this week. For the past few weeks I've been slowly getting a custom 6-point cage made by a guy who works with my dad. The steel its made from has surface rust from being left outside but it'll be off to be sandblasted and primed next week. At the moment only the main bars...
Spent the day attacking the dashboard with the angle grinder and sorting out and tidying up some wiring. Got rid of the glove box and the blower pipes to either side vent as they will be blocked by the cage once its installed anyway. Since the passenger airbag has been removed, I cut out the...
It was moreso to make it neater rather than save weight. Might install a small electronics-project style box near the gearstick and shove it all in there.
Stripping wiring out of my track car, I'm not too proficient with all the electrical stuff so just like to check before I take out certain things. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks, just took them out and didn't seem to get any warning lights.
Whilst I'm asking, the silver box in front of the gear...
Did a bit more work on the dash today. Made the curved insert out of two aluminium L-bars I had lying around. Hacksawed a bunch of lines down one edge, which allowed me to curve the bar to my cardboard template which matches the contour of the dash. Put a bit of cardboard in the vent hole to...
Hi,
Just to let you know first off, I don't really have any hopes of getting affordable insurance nor do I need it but thought I may aswell check to see, just in case. I'm in the process of building my track car and will be trailering it to and from the track. The main reason for trailering is...
Here's the gauges I got. Autometer oil pressure gauge and analog clock. Also bought a T-piece to fit the oil pressure sender, £10.99 from Matt Lewis Racing. Also just spent the last hour getting these damn centre vents out of the lower dash. They're moulded in and it was a b*tch getting them...
Here's how the interior looked when I received the car. It also had climate controls and radio but I took them all out for now. Radio will stay gone, climate controls hidden away somewhere else.
First port of call was to start getting rid of any more unnecessary things. I'm not confident in...
Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the Clio world, about 3 weeks new, and also new to the track car world. I picked up this Clio 172 PH2 from a mate at work for £500, a bargain, with the agreement that if I ever came to sell it I'd give him a good deal back on it since he gave me one. I...
Hello.
I'm in the midst of building my track car and want to remove the centre vents so I can make room for some gauges, but thats besides the point. How do I remove the centre air vents? Cant seem to see any screws but it looks like the vents can come apart from the main blower tubes because...
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I can't seem to find the answer elsewhere, and this may be a silly question but I'm not sure.
I want to fit my oil pressure gaue between the green oil pressure sensorand the block (in picture below, to the left of the oil filter) and I've bought a T-piece to...
Hey
This may be a stupid question, I'm not sure. Im still a bit of a newbie so please bare with me. I've got an oil pressure gauge and a T-juction so that I can attach it in front of the oil pressure switch (the green switch to the left of the oil filter, as seen in the picture). I was just...
