The kits theselves are legal, however strictly speaking you should have projector headlights and headlight washers and a couple of other things if you want them to be 100% legal, but in reality I haven't heard of anyone being even so much as warned about this by the police. In terms of MOT you...
Have a look over on www.clio16valver.co.uk, there are several people on there who own Mk1's with 1.8 16v Turbos. Try searching on that site and you will get most of the answers your after as its a common topic there. In terms of power output it will vary greatly depending on what spec you...
Essentially yes as all warranty issues would go through me, same as if you bought something from a shop you could take it back there with your warranty issues.
I've seen it done before, personally I don't think its a good idea as I hate people driving about with foglights on - but it can be done fairly easily, no more difficult than for your headlamps.
I'm in the process of setting up a website for my new business at the moment selling HID kits. I'm going to try and arrange a group buy on here over the next few weeks if you are interested.
I'll be posting up more details in the next couple of days though, probably on sunday with detail of...
thanks, I'll have a look into that. Does anyone know how the lights in the car vary from car to car - i.e. do the sports have one type and the rest the other?
Ok folks I'm looking for a little bit of help. Would anyone be able to confirm the bulb fitments across the marks and phases of clios, this is what I believe they are:
Mk1 (91-98) - Dipped Beam (DB) - H4, Main Beam (MB) - H4
Mk2:
Ph1 (98-01?) - DB - H4, MB - H4
Ph2 (01-03?) - DB - H7, MB...
Yeah I've got some on mine. It also just so happens that I sell these kits as well, lol.
Have a look at this thread:

There are pictures of the HID's on mine in there. On the Mk1's especially it is a total transformation...
Try bell and elephant and put two older females on the policy as named drivers. Doing this I was paying about £800TPFT for my hybrid when I was 19 - and its quicker than a 1*2 ;)
Its not the ratios that bother me, its just that I think my rev counter may be a bit innacurate so I wanted to check what the correct revs for each speed were so I could compare them with the readings I'm getting from the rev counter.
Cheers, has anyone got any idea what theirs does in reality? I just checked mine and 70mph (or about 73 on speedo as I didn't have my GPS) was about 3800RPM which is quite a bit out from those above, will check 3rd @ 60mph later.
Btw, where abouts in edinburgh are you based mate?
Can't make the 3rd but I might try and make it on the 17th August. With a little more strippage I would be hoping for low 14's but with it being my first time on the 1/4 mile I'll just have to wait and see.
Just a quick question for those of you with 172 cups. Could you tell me what revs your rev counter shows when you are doing the following:
70 MPH in 5th Gear
60 MPH in 3rd Gear
If possible if anyone could do this using GPS for the speeds that would be great. I've got a 172 cup box in the...
Never been but keep meaning to go as I want to see what the hybrid can run down the 1/4 mile. Anyone have any idea whats on at crail over July/August as I may try and head along if I can get off work for a weekend.
Very fair post, and one to tie it up imo or else this will go on for ever. The williams is a great car for what it is and I love Mk1 clios and they will give many newer hot hatches a good run for their money. Personally I would rather a williams over an E30 but that's purely because at the...
It seems to me from reading this thread that you haven't quite grasped what people are trying to discuss about the williams. Everyone else is looking at it how it compares to similar cars i.e. hot hatches old and new, but you keep bringing these RWD cars into the argument that have bugger all...
FPMSL, this could easily win worst thread of the year. Fair point the williams isn't the best car of its generation but it certainly isn't average, and in its class is a hell of a good car.
With the argument of how it compares to 1*2s its been done to death, all I would say is that they are...
try williamsclio.co.uk and do a search and you will be able to find the PDF form of the specific williams document somewhere on there. I used to have it on my PC but it crashed and I lost it :-(
As matteh said you will find that very often once it pops out once it will continue to do so. I can't remember what the setup is on a williams box but I have never heard of a williams box (JC5) popping the circlip so that would probably be a good option as they are the strongest of the mk1...
Mine regularly seem 7000rpm and hasn't missed a beat in the time I have owned it, and its on about 100k miles. As long as you let it warm up fully before you start driving it like that it will be fine, start doing it before its fully warmed up and you're asking for trouble.
Tbh, having looked at the advert I've realised how close it is to me so if you don't go I might be along to have a look myself as a potential stop gap if I decide I'm going to turbo the hybrid, lol.
And your wife could be right btw, after all it is an old french car ;).
Can't remember exactly but when I changed the gearbox on my old valver i think you just pushed two clips together and it pulled out pretty easily?? It was pretty straightforward anyway whatever way it came out.
