^^ can also do each side individually if you want. Just measure it accurately to get both sides the same. If it's a 1.2/1.4 then you should be OK as they rarely seize as they have a closed bar but the 16v can be a pain at times with the bars seizing.
I wouldn't bother with the megane head personally, it's is an option but unless you want to be *****ing about with the wiring you would have to have the head machined to take a dizzy cap so that you can run it with a williams ECU.
you can re-use the gearbox and driveshafts off the 1.4. You would need a 16v fuel pump, suspension and brakes as well as engine, loom and ECU. You could re-use the 1.4 engine mounts, but not really the best idea tbh - better with the 16v ones.
personally I would go for an F7R engine. It's the 2.0 16v out of the williams, megane etc. It's a straight swap for the 1.8, you can even just use the 2.0 bottom end with the 1.8 head and you can get very good power gains out of it. They are 150bhp standard but there are a few running nearly...
Was that the guy ruftuf suggested? Don't know how much would normally be charged for fitting the lines, but pads and discs should cost next to nothing to get fitted usually. Did you get in touch with crhis? I don't think he's been on the net much recently but I could probably give you his...
iirc the smaller one is for the ones with 52mm hub bolt spacing and the larger one for those with 54mm spacing. You can check the spacing by measuring the distance between the two bolts that connect the hub to the strut, but make sure you are accurate as 2mm difference isn't much and you could...
sorry, meant as in look into whats causing the alternators to fail. It could always be that you were just unluck with the two you bought but it's probably something else causing the problem if you've just gone through so many of them.
definately worth looking into other possibilities imo as it does seem a bit odd. I'm not sure of what could cause it but no doubt someone else will be able to help.
Could try Chris_H over on retro-renault.co.uk , drop him a PM on retro-renault and he would probably do it for you for a good price, he's based in paisley.
as above, officially DVLA should be notified but not many bother to tell them. Insurance wouldn't be affected as it's a like for like replacement.
As for how difficult it is it's a pretty straightforward job tbh. Out of interest, this to do with mine if you got it? If so no need to worry...
Sound like the cambelt which is a bit of a bummer, do those engines not have a plastic cover you can whip off through the wheel arch to have a look at the bottom pulley?
If you just sell it as it is then let me know as I would maybe be interested as a way of making a little money by dropping...
lol, half the island is single track. Most of my folks are up there so I end up going up quite a bit. Can't beat it for scenery etc in the summer.
Were you up the north end of the island at all?
Btw if anyone is thinking of going and wants somewhere to stay try THIS place, my uncle and...
to be fair about the pad anyway it is on the list of things to check for an MOT so they can't really do anything but fail you for it. I agree it can seem a bit harsh but at the end of the day it is on the list of things to check and you could easily have sorted it before the MOT to avoid...
did you check the power across the two points on the loom plug? as supposed to one of the pins and earth?
iirc it should be about 12v at the loom connection.
Try asking over on retro-renault as although most of them have Ren 19's they have the same engine so might find some help over there.
was just about to say the same as lemonnobby - if you are definately getting power to the injectors and there is fuel in the rail then I can't see what else it could be other than the injectors. I suppose with that though it's extremely unlikely that they would all go at once so you would have...
why not take the plugs out and turn it over to check if it's injecting or not. From my experience you can easily smell whether it's firing the injectors or not when you have the plugs out.
Just work it through logically - for it to run you need spark, compression and fuel so check them one by...
tbh I would agree with martin and wouldn't pay more than £60 or so for a box. Last time I got one I didn't have to pay a thing for it - though I did have to trade a car for it, lol.
VAG conversion would be great, but I would go for a 2.0 williams/megane engine tbh. To get someone to put a vag engine in for you would cost a rediculous amount of money. I would always go for the williams engine over the volvo engine as well as they don't seem to be the best of engine from...
lol, go in and ask why they have charged you for 25 litres!!! If they say thats the minimum they can charge you for ask them for the other 20 odd litres as they would only have used about 3.5!!! I know I would just to be a pain in the arse as thats rediculous.
haynes says 3.5 without filter, 4 with. Don't really know what difference it makes tbh, I just buy a gallon and fill it till it's got enough in there by checking the dipstick.
