I've been looking into all this recently as my dad wanted one for his christmas - have a look in the tech section for my thread. From what I have been told the Garmin c510 seems to be the best for that sort of money. In the end we decided to go for a tomtom one which was £180.
You can get the clutch from factors a lot cheaper than renault. Phone round and find out, I got one from brown brother for £70 iirc when renault were wanting £100 + and it was a valeo clutch I got so exactly the same as renault were selling. I would agree though about going to a clutch...
As above you can get a hillpower one. You can just buy a normal one though and pack it out with some sort of stuff (can't remember the name - but you can just buy a tube of it) and it's meant to do the same job as the hillpower one for much, much les.
After some humming and hawing the options are:
Nuvi 300 - £189.99
Nuvi c510 - £149.99
TomTom One - £185.90
Opinions?
At the moment I really am split so need to check with the person actually buying it what they want. BTW it seems all the maps are updatable through an SD memory card, woud...
Just been out to have a look at the garmin c510i, nuvi and tomtom one. What the differences between the nuvi and c510i? Unfortunately the guy in the shop didn't realy know very much about them but there was about £80 difference between them, and the tomtom one was £50 more expensive than the...
mmm, I think I'll go to a shop tomorrow and have a bit of a play around. What the situation with tomtom's and speed camera locations? Can you get them at no extra cost?
hadn't seen your last post before the one I just made. Would you definately recommend a garmin over a tomtom in general then Brun? Have you used both before?
right, I'll look into it then. How do map upgrapes etc work with them? Is it possible to get these free or do you have to pay?
As I say I have never really paid any attention to sat nav before so I'm pretty clueless but my old man wants one for christmas so I have to do some fact finding...
thanks brun. Which of the two would you recommend if you had to choose one?
Would you say they are about same/better than tomtom?
Do you know if the tomtom will work with the heated screen?
lol, I'm on the 50% off friends and family thing as well. The only thing is I don't know anyone that works there!!!! I went into one of the shops and after a while speaking to the guy in there and saying it was probably too expensive he said he would put me on his friends and family as he...
What would you recommend as the best camera availiable for around £150?
Not looking for anything with loads of fancy features, just the best photo quality I can get for that sort of money.
Thanks.
I'm needing some advice on what the best sat nav unit to get is. I've got about £200 to spend, though ideally it would be a bit cheaper than that. I know I'm not going to get the best around at that price but could someone give me an indication of whats best to go for in that price range...
yeah, the ratios will be different but the box itself should be fine. This was being discussed elsewhere recently and it seems the 1.4 boxes might actually be stronger than the 16v as they both use the same internals but the 1.4 diff seems to be a bit better. IIRC there will be a slight gap...
^^^ Not worth it tbh, no doubt could be done but wouldn't be worth it when you could just drop a 172 in there imo.
As for teh 19 engine you can re-use the 1.4 mounts, just ideally you would want some off a 1.8 16v. Driveshafts and gearbox can be used off the 1.4, if you keep the normal...
my exhaust used to make a noise around that point in the rec range - and no I don't just mean normal exhaust noise before any smartarse says they always make a noise, lol. It's kind of hard to describe but it was from vibrations in the exhaust I think, doesn't do it anymore though since I got...
any pics to show how low it is? Should probably be the same as the red 16v I would think if it's 30mm. The 16v I had was very low, think it was about 50mm - looked awesome though.
yeah, it will only be that much. AS I said above valvers are lower by about 30mm (about that iirc) as standard anyway so when you lower it 30mm it's the equivalent of about 60mm on a 1.4/1.2. Though I would agree the back looks to be a bit more than 30mm
thats a valver though mate, which is lower than a 1.2/1.4 as standard.
Rob 887 - cheers. Looks as though mine is 55mm at the front then. IMO you need to go lower than 55mm at the fron for the best look after realising that. I've been meaning to lower mine by more for ages thinking it was...
can any of you guys with a 1.2/1.4 lowered 55/60mm at the front post some close ups of your front wheels so that I can see what sort of gap there is between the arch and the wheel?
I had always presummed I had been sold the wrong springs as I bought them off someone on here saying they were...
^^^ not necessarily ali, depends if it's valver/williams or a 1.2/1.4. Either way you should be OK with 45 profile tyres as long as it's not a williams as I think they tend to stuggle if too low with the wider track they have. Valvers would have loads of clearance and it's usually the case on...
as edde says theres no need for a balljoint splitter - can make things a bit easier though. Main problem is trying to undo the rusty fecking bolts, lol. I spent hours on one occasion just trying to undo them as they were rusted to buggery, then another time it took literally 2 minutes to undo...
I have to admit the induction kit on my valver when I had it sounded bloody awesome, but I would always go with the standard airbox instead as the induction kit will lose you power.
