This has happened on my car for a while now and I've been down to Rentech for them to try and identify the problem but it's been unsuccessful.
I can now get the knock to happen when I want... providing I'm on some uneven ground (e.g. gravel).
If I'm stationary on gravel, turn the steering...
Yeh so your pics... are similar, if not worse than mine whereas I got rubbing and you don't :(
I have noticed that on the NSF archliner, there's a little bit of plastic that was covering sharp edges to some metal. I think that bit of plastic use to catch so it has now been removed, which has...
Good old Quarry corner has seen many incidents. Haha!
There's a nice long (gradual) straight before it where you will pick up some speed. You then approach a slight incline with a gradual left bend (Avon Rise), which then has a sharp right into Quarry. People hit Avon Rise so quick and then...
I used to run the T1R's and did not like them at all, especially with the numbee of times I was on track. They just wore down so quickly. They're cheap and cheerful so are ok for those who will just use the car on a day-to-day basis. This time I have gone for the CS original... the Michelin PE2...
Are you just going to replace the bearing?
I had mine done recently. The NSR was on its way out so I purchased them direct from Renault for £133, which included a pair of rear wheel bearings, a pair of rear discs and a pair of pads. The discs/bearings are one complete unit.
What are PS2's? Or are you talking about PE2's? Do they do PE2's in that size!?! :s
How many are you wanting?
Here are some prices I have...
1 x Michelin PE2 (195 45 R16) £98.00
2 x Michelin PE2 (195 45 R16) £182.08
3 x Michelin PE2 (195 45 R16) £268.72
4 x Michelin PE2 (195 45 R16)...
I wanted to try and avoid going down the coilover route due to finances, but if that's the only suggestion... then I'd have to look into it. As for track days/events... I'm probably doing them approx. 4/5 times a year as well as the 'Ring.
For a while now... when I'm doing track days, etc... I do get some rubbing when I'm turning heavy into a corner and it's sooo frustrating because... the car's only lowered 30mm on Eibach springs on the 16" Turini's with standard shocks...
(Enjoying a bit of cocking the leg)
How...
My mate did the same. Googled Rentech and Rentech Repairs came up so he went there... not realising it was a different one. Silly silly boy. I spoke to Mike about this before and he wasn't best pleased about it... for obvious reasons. However, the majority of his current and future customers...
Service, cambelt, aux belt, new front discs/pads/hoses, etc... all done :) Thanks Rentech! :)
Had a "slight" problem once I was about to get onto the A3(m) but all was sorted within an hour'ish. Haha!
I let my mate drive my car the year before last and he came off on that corner. We ended up on the gravel but luckily didn't hit it that hard. The back end was snaking and I thought we were going to hit it. I told him to slow down as he approaches Brunchen (sp.) 2. I didn't let him driver my car...
Yeh. I paid approx. £130 for a pair of rear discs, bearings, pads (inc. ABS rings). They also came in a nice gift box too. Haha!
But at least it'll all be done now and not something happen while I'm at the 'Ring.
Recently, I've had a rubbing/grinding noise coming from the rear wheels, which turned out to be the NSR wheel bearing. As the bearing is part of the disc and as discs/pads are changed in pairs, I bought new discs/pads and bearings and had them fitted for a total of £170, which wasn't "too" bad...
I have a similar knocking on my car. Happens if I'm turning into a road with a slightly uneven surface too or a bump. I took the car down to Rentech and couldn't get the noise to happen so they couldn't diagnose the problem. There's nothing wrong with the top mounts so I have a feeling it could...
Thanks for that!
It does appear the NSR is on its way out so I have ordered a pair or rear discs with the bearings and a set of pads, which will be delivered Thursday and fitted Thursday evening :)
Ok... the problem is the wheel bearing and I "think" it maybe the NSR so going to get the car on a ramp on Tuesday as I'm out all day tomorrow.
What's this about the bearing being part of the disc and the ABS rings, etc...?
What are the normal signs of a wheel bearing on its way out or may need replacing? Or... a hub?
When I'm driving on a dual carriageway, I get quite a lot of road noise. It's started happening at lower speeds too. I first noticed it when I'm doing 75mph. If I'm doing 70, it's there but can...
I have been told by a friend (who is currently running DS2500 pads on his race car) that I may be better off with the DS2000 pads as I use the car a lot, daily and very "rarely" go out on track... maybe three/four times a year. Is he correct or would the DS2500 pads still be what I need?
Ok. I have spoken to Dave @ Rentech and the quote I was given was for what I mentioned before, but excluding the actual aux. belt kit. It included the aux belt but not the complete kit. With the kit included, we'd be talking approx. £715.
