Doesnt really matter if it has ABS or not, it clearly wouldnt have helped in this situation - i.e. driving too close to the vehicle in front.
Tragic though it is, some people unfortunately find out the hard way. Thats life.
Speaking personally, i'm not THAT bothered about the actual performance. I'm bothered more about how it feels subjectively behind the wheel.
At 1240 kg, how can the 197 feel as fast? It doesnt, simple as. I'm not actually bothered if it wasnt, as long as it could feel it, but from what i gather...
Exactly the same problem as me. I had the windscreen re-sealed. Problem solved - unless i now go 130 or more MPH, however, thats not really now a problem for me to get seriously checked out!!
Funny, if the 197 was SOOOOO much better like most people on here seem to like to say, funny how evo rated the Trophy and Williams better than it.
People go on about the handling. Personally (and i may well be alone by the looks of things) I like the driving characteristics of the 182. Its...
I had a DCI80 Mk3 or whatever it was, and if you were just driving normally it felt quicker than my 182. I'd imagine a DCI 100, especially if it was chipped, to be faster than any RS that wasnt living in its cam zone. Obviously an RS driven with intent will sail by, but in normal driving...
I've been told that the 182 comes with 3 years AA cover... i bought my car second hand, but i've not been given any numbers, or been in contact with the AA. Is there anything I need to do? By my reckoning i should have another year of it remaining?
They sound ok as standard, but nothing special IMO.
Part of the reason may be because cars nowadays have to apparently comply with noise regulations.
I've driven a number of cars, and I can say the engine sound of the Clio 182 is nothing special as standard, but nor is it very bad either...
Another benefit that hasnt quite been discussed with this is the fact that you remove weight from the front end, which in turn, theoretically makes the car more balanced too. Ideally you would have 50/50 weight distibution, although in reality thats probably not going to be easy to achieve in a...
I'm looking at getting their twin charger one next month, the one where the open cone is placed near the battery rather than next to the engine. I went out on a blat the other day and decided to pop open the bonnet to see what the temperatures were like underneath, and where the air box is now...
I had a pretty long test drive as well. As i say, capable car, but for me theres a reason why the clio is often regarded as a hot hatch king and not the civic. It just lacks that "x-factor" for me. :)
I wasnt disputing it (CTR) wasnt a good car. It just didnt light my fire. My problem with it was that it was perhaps too clinical. That indeed suggests that it is capable, and sure enough, it is. However, the Clio just seemed more fun. More edgy. A bit more raw. Perhaps a bit more brutal.
Just...
The 197 is a better car in terms of interior space, build quality, safety.
Unfortunately, thats not what the typical hot hatch buyer is looking for. I'm sure its a good car, but it desperately needs more torque and power by the sounds of it.
Thats the thing though, i never really suffered much fade with the stock pads. I expect them to be at least slightly better than those. Having said that, i'll give them a little while longer, at least a couple of thousand miles. If they dont improve by then, i'll go for something else.
I still find the performance quite good, but i do know what you mean. It spoils you though, as i found out when i drove some others car (none of which would be regarded as slow particularly) and found them all rather sluggish compared to the clio so in that respect it spoils you.
So according to you, an exhaust is not chavvy, but an induction kit is?
:S
Whatever mate, go back to your hole. And this coming from someone who appears to have aftermarket alloys. HAHAHA.
LMAO.
Why pay money for a better engine note? Is that a serious question?
I already have a decent exhaust thanks. I still want it to sound better. I dont see the problem?
Well i was advised they (EBC) were good enough for road use by fred, and i was prepared to buy ds2500's as i could afford it.
I really hope they are better than what they are like so far, as at the mo they are worse than worn down OEM pads.
I'd be interested to know. My brakes (new greenstuffs) feel absolutely fine until they get any heat in them, and then its like you describe.
Pain in the @rse.
V6 mk2 is faster and better than any 2.0 clio, simple as that.
Better noise. Better to drive. Faster. Quite probably better handling as well. I bet it could corner faster than a 2.0 in the right hands.
