don't get the D40. get the sony A200
http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod609.html
you couls buy an extention tube or fit a close up lens. these reduce your minimum focus distance but you loose infinity focus
I sold my 17-55 for £600
400D plus grip maybe £350-360 but best to check ebay for their prices.
I sold all my stuff via POTN and talk photography no chance I'm paying ebay anything
D40 is an old camera technology wise compared to the A200.
lens wise you are not going to be lacking with the sony, you have a choice of over 70 lenses and they have flashes and accessories.
TBH you should not even be considering the D40 in 2009.
AFAIK the 18-105 is a pretty decent consumer lens with the 18-55 being worse.
you could go down the route of a sigma 18-50mm f2.8 HSM lens and a 80-200 f2.8 nikkor.
I've got a couple that do 6x4's. they are ok but you are cheaper getting them done online in the long run. excluding the cost of the printer you are looking abour 15-20p a print for a6x4.
camera angle too low, don't really see much of the car or the background.
be better off having the rig higher and having the car going straight. got the right amount of blur in the background.
I would actually give the 60mm a miss, you are going to get quite close to the subject. I had the canon efs-60 and it was not as good as the EF 100mm because you where so close to the subject.
the sigma 50mm won't but the 70-300 HSM will however both are not true macro lenses.
sigma's true macro lenses are the 70mm, 105mm, 150mm, 180mm priced at £358, £333, £540, £680. the 70 and 105 won't autofocus on the D60
nikon make an AF-S 60mm for £300, 105mm for £580, 200mm for just...
hot pixels.
try the cure which works on canons it may or not work on yours.
take the lens off and switch the manual sensor cleaning system on so that the mirror lifts up. leave it like that for 2mins then switch off then on again. see if they are there.
do they go away if you turn...
put lens can on and take the picture again say iso 1600 and a long exposure of 10s. turn off any noise reduction in the camera too. hot pixels will show up as red, purple, white etc on the black.
what kind of camera do you have?
