The 172/182s are basically harsh cars. They are bumpier, heavier steering, stiffer clutch, torque steer etc buuuuut.....
I wouldnt go back to another model of Clio. Theyve got the looks, handling and features that out weighs any of above. Its a car where you have to drive it rather than sit...
Dunno if its me be a bit stupid (could well be lol) but I didnt really understand the explainations above. Can someone put it in the same terms as if they were explaining how to set the VCR for a middle aged woman!! :D
I still reckon that that the Clios are one of the nicest hatches around whether they are 1.2s or 182s!!
They are marketed toward different drivers so will be slightly different. I use my 172 as my only car and at times I do find it a bit tense drive at times though.
Has anyone spied the really ropey looking white 306 that drives around Epsom???
Looks shocking, got a massive spoiler must be two foot high on the roof and bright blue mud flaps. Rest of if completely standard though, including the alloys.
I believe its a 306 Rally?!

Before my 172 i drove my mums 1.4 Clio a fair (before she sold it) and i dont reckon the handling was close to the 172. A lot more roll into the corners and I wouldnt trust it like I do my car.
They are pretty nippy and are made to be easy to drive. That seems to be how they are designed to...
Definate true, I think they assume its a boy racer and automatically speed up. Funniest when they just cant shake you and lets face it the Clio Sports will keep up with most cars without breaking a sweat.
That sounds like a very random bit of driving!!! I have noticed that as soon as they see a sporty car coming up behind them they feel the urge to try and out run you.
BMWs are usually good ones, especially 316s. :D
Ive had 45mpg out of my 172 but thats been the most. which was cruising around 70mph.
I should imagine if youre only doing 60mph and since the car has so little mileage on it your probably running it in and not revving high which would probably explain such a high mpg.
I know people have said before but what revs does the rev limiter kick in at. Isnt it set lower until the car warms up as well?
Anyone know that the top speed of a 172/182 in each gear is before hitting the limiter????? I aint hit the limiter yet and if I ever do I m sure I wont be watching...
Saw a blue V6 putting his foot down at the traffic lights near Asda. Seemed to be coming from the Tattenham Corner direction.
Nice to see a car being driven like it should!! :D
What I think is daft is colour coding bump strips at all!!
Let me explain. Black bump strips definately dont look that good but being unpainted means if you open the door onto a wall etc then you wont scrape any paint that is why they are bump strips.
So if they are painted you dont want...
Ive never managed to test the top speed on my car coz my private test track just wasnt long enough :p
And the fact that my missus told me off, got to an almight 115 mph and still pulling so I assume its gonna be pretty fast.
To be honest I hate that Barryboys site. I mean there are some truly aweful rides on there which deserver some stick.
But I mean that replica V6 is a good effort and whats the harm making a good replica out of a 1.2 if you cant afford one?!?! They should change that site to...
Had a look on the website but they dont seem to do any of the Renaultsport cars. Looked at the Clio and for the Megane 225 which wanted to get next and they dont have it on there. :(
It is definately all down to opinion. I wouldnt buy one from the Clio I have now as i feel it would be a step back.
For a new buyer into the 172/182/ST150/Cupra bracket it would probably be more tempting but I wouldnt buy one now, onwards and upwards not sideways.
i reckon they could sell a few but heard they were gonna be pushing the £18-19k mark and that would put a lot of people off.
Would need to perform like 0-60 in 6 secs, 150mph+ otherwise people could just look elsewhere!! As in CTR, Clio 1?2, Megane 225 etc.
I read in a couple of sources that the RS version is never going to appear?!?! Probably coz by the time they get round to it they will probably have a new shape Fiesta.
I think by the time Im getting a new car I wanna move on to something faster, perhaps Megane 225/Seat Leon Cupra and those...
As I said i dont think its reasonable to compare the ST150 to the any Clio CUP. As there are numerous things removed from the CUP versions that the ST would then have.
It is was the Clio 182 vs the ST150 it would be comparible on features. Any of the Clios would out drive the 150 even though...
...and it has an interesting artilcle on the Fiesta ST150 vs Clio 182 Cup vs Seat Ibiza Cupra.
They actually rate the ST over the 182 in regards to overall hot hatchness what with the bigger wheels and racing stripes.
I think part the reason why the 182 Cup lost was the interior! If they...
Does anyone have any video clips of a Clio in .AVI format.
I got a Pioneer headunit that allows you to load your own OEL video clips/animations but to convert I need to have .AVI files.
If anyone knows where I can download that would great. Cheers :D
