Re: 1.2 Track car Conversion
I've just read through this thread. You've done some great bits. Be interesting how your brakes turn out. I'm doing the same but i'm plumbing in the cup bias valve which i bought a little while ago.
Keep up the good work :)
The only thing you need to do is 100% make sure the engine is very clean, no grease, no dust, no cr*p. and the finish will be great. I used VHT paint on bare metal. :)
My volvo brackets cost me £10, my 172 cup alternator cost £55 my belt cost £8
So to delete my AC & PAS is cost me £73 and that kit on the internet is like £350 or somthing.
I have no intentions of painting it another colour atm, if anything i'd fully strip the car down and get the shell acid dipped and build it up.
All the pannels will sit well when i'm finished putting it back together. They look all gappy because they can be taken off in seconds and sort of...
Thanks for the nice comments laddos.
I'll deffently be at the Combe Action day so I'll try not be shy and say hello lol, do a few little track sessions too with all those heros lol
I am quite pleased with how its turning out tho :)
Re: Bomber's Savage Supercharged Snorting Slut of a Ph1
Thats looking fantastic mate, the engine bay is the complete opposite to mine, yours is crammed full of gear and mine has tonnes of space (but yours will deffo be quicker)
Well if i just trailor it to all my trackdays next year then yes i will just keep them in, but i have been thinking about putting it back on the road for the summer for a bit of fun so the heavy xeons may be comign back
These some pictures of what i got upto the other day :)
So i finished off attaching the wishbones and subframe to the car and suspension so it was all ready for teh slightly more fun stuff
Alternator Bracket and tentioner bolted on :)
Then the ITB's went on to see what it all looked...
Yeah, its the gayest part of the track/road. I do end up catching some cars up a the karoussel tho which is fun.
No Nurburgring for me this year tho :( spending the year doing UK Trackdays instead :)
Oh right, the only reason i asked about the reving is that i love driving the Nurburgring and on a certian part of the track the car has to stay in 4th at about 7200rpm for about 45 seconds and i allways felt like my engine wasnt going to last long if i stayed doing that lap after lap. So i was...
I've polished it up and it looked pretty much brand new, obviously apart from the big gash in it. The bonnet just needs a little bit more work in a few areas where the laqure was very bad.
Thanks mate :)
Re: Dave.'s Cammed, 2118'd Carbon obsession
Shame you sold the bonnet, looked great.
I found that having the airbox you have comeing straight off the TB made it sound even betterr. Deffently the cheapest and best priced engine work to do i think. So i'd do that if i was you as it'll only cost...
Well i did a little trial fit of the bonnet today and i could maybe cut the areocatches where the cut is. But i didnt really want then to be mounted there but i may have not choice.
I did some more work on the car today and i'm really happy, it looks the s**t now :) I'll update it on Tuesday :)
Small update,
Cutting a long story short, I bought a Carbon Firbre bonnet which had some laqure peel. and the courier damaged it in transit by putting a large cut in it :( The package didnt have insurance or anything so i'm stuck with a bonnet with damage.
Anyway today i took the DA to it to...
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
I just used white sprite to get the glue off, nice and cheep.
Those subframes look great. You'll deffently need to lower the steering coloum as your sat so low the wheel will be really high!
