IIRC you can't put a 16b beam on an RT as the valver has a wider track at the rear. You could fit an RSi beam no problem though as it has rear discs, but TBH I don't think it's worth the hassle for all the braking the rears do. Even MATT BLACK on here has drums on the rear of his 350 odd BHP Clio.

I have been told on here and some other forums that all valvers have 54mm. The base models have no set spacing though, they are randomly either 52mm or 54mm.

By rails I mean the black bits in the picture, I would try and get a pic to be more precise but my mum's away with the camera on holiday. Is it necessary to have these on the sill for the MOT? How much do places charge to weld it (by it I mean just whatever is needed) in?

It's MOT isn't coming up shortly, but it's just for futur reference. As I have said the rest of the sill other than the rail type bits that stick down at the bottom are fine. The rails themselves are still there but you could probably pull them away at bit as they are very rusty at points...

Just checked the haynes. It's not the clearest for a bit of a wiring novice like myself, are there any diagrams anywhere which show basically what branches off where as I reckon that would make it a lot easier to work out.

cheers mate. If I go and see it again I'll try and get under the car to have a decent look at it. Only looked in the haynes now and realised where the sump plug is on a 16v, I suppose it's very possible it could be there.

Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to take the engine out. I'll have another look at the car and have a better look to see if I can find the connectors. Is there any possible reason why they would have cut off the CTS connector and the connector for the dark borwn plug next to it from the loom?

I know which one the CTS is, on this one it's not brown though, but it's the one next to it that I need. If anyone has a pic it would really help me out.
