What should I get? A megane one? I need it without cuts or vents, smooth and the correct size, i'll wrap it in carbon 3M wrap or similar, as the door mirrors, foglight surrounds and the rear bumper insert.
I got ds2500 with the same discs, brembo HC, braided hoses and red stuff with standard discs at the rear. I am very pleased, but it's not the cheaper choice. Honestly I think some standard renault sport rotors would be as good with the same pads.
It's a fast road setup, very good on steep...
In Italy they are required only in some mountainous regions, and only when it's been snowing.
Winter tyres and chains are interchangeable, but the tyres must have M+S and the snowflake sign on them.
I went for 4 15" from a clio 1.8 painted matt black by myself and a set of pirelli snowsport...
I think i'll follow your suggestions when i'll remap mine, with the 182 manifold, dekat and ktec exhaust already mounted I should have very good results.
9 years and I never crashed...well apart that time with the s2000...and that other one with the mini and the bike...and the last time with the clio...ehm
I guess you're very lucky or a very good driver!!
Never had them, i bought it like that...i think the previous owner sold them or crashed one and so changed both. I'll change the bumper (it's ruined and i should receive some money for it) and i'll remove the washer.
Anyway: i didn't think to test the winter tyres so soon!

About the mini: here's the youtube channel of the tuner that made it:

I don't think you'll understand what they say, apart from the fact they're in italian...people are from naples, very heavy...
Mmm it's not the usually creaking sound that some car makes, is more like two pieces are touching, similar to a plastic cover loose touching a wheel...anyway i'll go to the garage...so nothing to worry about you think?
Isn't it dangerous? Here if they get you with a different engine in you can risk to lose your license and even your car, and if you have an accident with others involved the insurance doesn't cover.
Good work mate...you can always swap for a 182 when you can afford the insurance and recycle a lot of pieces on it!
I got lucky that in my country a few years ago they passed a law that allow to get the same insurance class of your parents if you live with them for the 1st car. The 172 is the...
Don't worry too much about the polished lip...is polished! It means if it curbs it's easy to bring it back to shiny with a bit of work...anyway 15" steelis or cheap wheels with winter tyres are the way to go, in black or silver (bare metal for the steelies in this case)
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
That's so light...even if the engine was stock it should be very fun to drive!
I like these hybrids, a friend of mine had a CRX (non del sol, the one with the strange rear windows) with a tuned Integra engine, shockingly fast. He kept an almost stock (i'd...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Nice video...lol the highlights were the spuns? It seems very fast, at least looking at how you passed those other clios. How much does it weight?
Re: Ben_stevo172 - Supercharged Monaco 172
chris a racing ecu costs a fortune!! A friend of mine has a super/turbocharged Cooper S (300+ whp, 6th to rev limiter!) with one of those, launch control, bang (i think the term is misfire sistem, like in rally cars), boost, rev limiter and other...
Re: Ben_stevo172 - Supercharged Monaco 172
Usually semislick are good in the wet when they're new, but the tread wear off soon and then they're very slippery, especially in winter...I wouldn't use them on the road when temperature is below 10° or when it's raining heavily!
Yesterday I heard a strange noise turning the wheels with the car standing still, like something plastic-ish grinding, but it could be metal too, around the steering column or behind the dash. Should I worry? I'll go check it next week at the garage. It does it only when starting turning the...
Parada are for posers, they just melt with spirited driving, especially on track! I've had the T1R on the Mini, they weren't bad but not exceptional, i found the Goodrich Profiler GForce superior.
By now I think the best all rounder are the Bridgestone Re050A. I'll pick them or the PE2 for the...
Re: Ben_stevo172 - Supercharged Monaco 172
I've read the whole thread, great mod that SC. I've driven a lot of Cooper S and I like the pull of the charger, but i hate the sound, it gets on my nerves...
You still have stock dampers with lowering springs? I wonder how it handles, how does it put...
Of course i'll slow down, i'm not stupid. But i'm planning to go skiing too and winter here i pretty rigid, around or below zero, so snow tires are a must. I'll pass new year's eve on top of a mountain pass, there's a beautiful twisting road to go up there but it snows often, so bettere be prepared.
Some news:
-Still no money from the dog owneri crashed into (poor dog :-( ), i'm going trought my friend father who is an attorney, 1080 euros to replace front bumper and all the plastic pieces that go under it.
-Still no coilovers, i'm looking for some bargain here, first time a gaz, H&R, KW...
I found these wheels used, I'd like to use them for the winter tyres in 185/55/15:
They come from a Clio 1.8 16v, do you think i could have problem with the front calipers of my RS?
