Mk2 has uprated springs and dampers and a different suspension setup. As for the difference in handling...the mk2 is a bit on the safer side, mk1 is somewhat more lively. I find the initial turn-in sharper on the mk1, that's probably due to 15" rims.
I looked up EVO mag's EPR ratings, the mk2...
Also interesting is the RX-8 power issue.
In US, they were specified with 247hp at first, later they corrected the power to 238hp, but there is still a number of owners who claim they got as low as 180hp ATW on RR.
Otherwise, the Wankel unit in RX-8 is extremely tight when new, later when...
Ok, so a plain weight reduction would give you a slighlty improved performance in a straight line.
But has anybody that has put their car on a simple diet ever thought, that by shreding off weight uncontrolably, they are ruining the car's factory set weight distribution?
And by changing...
It would be possible to use lighter materials, but that inevitably leads to a more expensive car, wich is kinda ironic, considering the previous cup version was actually cheaper than the base version.
But today's manufacturers are restricted with both active/pasive safety regulations, back in...
The problem is, the engineers nowadays are more or less run by the marketing people. There's no point in making a great car, if you can't sell it. I am afraid that the era of insane people building insane cars for the equally insane is slowly drifting away. Car manufacturers simply can't afford...
The RS1 needs good maintenance, the suspension should be looked into every couple of months, engine should be bullet-proof if it was looked after, but the real problem is those little things that go wrong with age, like the electric windows switches, central locks, etc...also, the paint job is...
I'am not so sure about gettin' 130hp out of the dci100 lump with just a remap. Local tuners down here chip dci100s to about 115, maybe 120hp. I think the dci100 is pretty much maxed out even as standard and french common rail diesels generaly don't respond well to remaping, at least not as well...
Recently, when accelerating in any gear from 2.5k somewhere to 3.5k revs, i've been getting a strange humming noise comig somewhere from or behid the driving panel. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
I hated the new look when it got out, but now i am begining to like it more and more...and i am afraid that after a proper test drive, i will want one...
Totaly standard, except for the Eibach Sportlines, underpowered, rattly and covered in battle scars, but i still love it to bits. I've been forced to put it on sale recently, but fortunately, it may take quite some time before i manage to sell it. :)
