You wont need bigger injectors until you start running forced induction, the stock injectors are no where near their limit. Even running low boost (under 5psi) the stock 16v injectors should just be able to cope.
Forget about changing your injectors and spend your money on something else...
You can pick up a 5 turbo for a couple of hundred £ if you look hard enough.
There is a tatty 16v on ebay at the moment for about £250 odd, obviously will go for more but not alot.
Only thing is that while the motor is out you should really get it re-built, just so you know whats going in there.
Sounds like it could be a problem with the drive shaft. Or it could be that the tracking has been bodged up in the past and you have more lock one side than the other.
Once the turbo bug bites, you cant get away from them!!!!
Easy to tune, but you must do it properly or it will go bang. No turning up the boost without sorting the other important parts, especially fueling!
You can find a decent tuned and well looked after example for around £2k maybe less...
I might be going up Pod on Sunday, could take a look if you are there, or close by? Or, if you get the Clio Haynes manual, it has instructions in there on how to do it, including the adjustment sequence. Not difficult to do at all, and could be a good starting point to get to know how to work...
As the cam spins, it presses against the rockers (or tappets) which in turn push down on top of the valves, opening and closing them. Sort of like a see-saw effect, only up-side-down.!
Sorry, crap explaination but I think its the simplist way of explaining.!
TDC sensor lead takes a signal from the flywheel to the ignition coil. The engine relys on this to create a spark. I doubt its this that the cause as your plugs sound like they are firing. Sounds like its either fueling or timing.
If your engine is not quite catching, make sure you have the...
Ok, just top up then if its already got the Renault stuff in it. Im not sure where the coolant drain plug is on the DCi (is that what you have?), but its not a hard job.
Also check the cap is done up firm, but not too tight and definately not too loose.
See how it goes over the next week...
Clare,
If you are just using normal water then it could just boil away gradually. Best thing to do would be to flush the cooling system and fill up with the Premix coolant that Renault sell. Is about £12 for 5 litres (I think the £6 one is for a 2 litre bottle or something).
You could also...
And what if two or more people in this group that brought the car wanted the same part? They both would legally own the car (if you had a contract), so who would get the part(s)?
Good idea but the owners would also want access to it so youd also need to agree to where its going to be kept and...
Valve spring compressor to remove and refit the valves, can get them from Halfords for about £30 or less. Timing is set by looking for the timing marks on the head and engine casing.
Cant remember off the top of my head what type of head bolts they use, thing they use torx head type...
If you want to chance it, fit a new cam belt and do a compression test on all the cylinders, that will tell you if anything is fecked without removing the head. You never know, you could get very lucky!.
Most likely that you have bent a few valves and they will need replacing, shouldnt have...
You might just have a small stone or something got its self wedged between the pad and disc. Id remove the pads and give them a check over just to be on the safe side if I were you. They could also just be worn down!
Ive got a set of ph1 16v alloys on a R5 turbo Ive just brought. They have the locking center caps but I dont have the key for them. Anyone know where I can get a key to undo them?
Also, they will be up for sale too, in very good condition, with Yoko tyres on them. Still a little bit of...
It would be a waste not to drive it. Its not really at the age where you could call it a classic car and wont be for a long time, if ever! It will probably end up like the R5 Raider. Good if you can get a clean example, but never going to be worth thousands like the Turbo 1 or 2.
Actually, I think you can also fit the release arm from the Volvo 440 (or 480) turbo, these are slightly longer than the ones on the R5 and are a direct replacement as the Volvo uses a renault gearbox.
There is a soft pedal conversion available for the 5 turbo, but its not true that most of them have it, infact its very few. Its not a genuine renault conversion but one that most tuning companies do, which involves extending the release arm on the gearbox to give it more leverage, hence making...
You dont need any tools to replace the cable, just a piece of string and the new cable! ;) Oh, its a little easier if you jack the car up too so I suppose the jack is a tool!?
The teeth on the ratchet adjuster on the pedal can wear down, but I doubt they have, Ive replced cables on 14 year...
