Thanks for the info.
Yeah its the Mk2 Cup racer I'm on about. I am using the 172/megane hubs at the minute and looking to change the roll centre and noticed that the base of the hub is longer from the bearing centreline.
Do you have an example of the spacers for the track rod ends?
Hi all,
Just to clear up really, are the Renault Laguna 2005 front hubs the same geometry as the Clio Cup Race car items? eg. Top two bolt spacing, distance from bottom ball joint to the inner face of the wheel bearing... I know that the centres will need pressing out and the clio ones pressing...
Stumbled across this not knowing anything was happening like this on cs! Absolutely loving the project and now certainly glued to this for more anticipated updates.
All in need now is a visit to the bank...
Surly there is a 197 lump somewhere that is waiting for a set of these. he said £700 will take them if anyone's interested, such a bargain really.
cheers
Heres a link to my mates bodies that he's selling, they're practically new!

He will take offers around £800 posted so if...
Yeah I have done the timing before. Still got tools etc.
Would it be worthwhile getting a set? And what sort of gains are expected? I am currently building my loom for my standalone Ecu which will be mapped also.
Anyone had much performance gains from putting a 197 head on a 172 bottom end?
Just thinking at the minute as some throttles have come up for sale...
Cheers
Josh
Sounds to me like the wrong bracket set up also.
I had a similar problem and later found lack of tension and the alternator was slightly angled due to the tensioner being 2mm short.
Hi all,
Can anyone tel me the part numbers for the cam cover bolts for either the 172/182 or the 197/200.
As far as I am aware the 197/200s run black and nicer looking bolts. But any help will be appreciated.
Cheers Josh
Just been at a test day with work at silverstone and saw a 200 cup car in a base blue. It weren't the same as 172/182 blue or megane sport f1 blue. Bit in between...
Can anyone help?
Cheers josh
If anyone can help, everything is wired up a it should be for the valver / 172 conversion but one thing does not add up where the tachometer does not work at all?
Does the 172 use a low voltage tachometer?
The wiring is all in the correct position as to matteh and foxys guides
Help muchly...
Can anyone tel me if the oil pressure sensor on the front of the 172 block is regarded as a switch or a sensor as I am looking to but a new one.
Cheers Josh
Will a Renault 5 clutch fit into a 172. I know the gearboxes are the same bolt holes but will the clutch fit on the 172 flywheel?
From reading up they fit on the 16v and williams as an upgrade.
Cheers Josh
Just out of interest how much would you want for it?
Yeah its only the first journal after the major cam pulley one.
I'll double check if there is any debris in there.
Cheers guys
Took the cam cover off while replacing the cam seals noticing score marks on the cam journal and the holder.
The score mark can be felt with a finger nail.
Would this be able to be machined out or am I looking at a new head and exhaust cam?
Looks like the curse of the Mk1 172 strikes...
Are the hubs and calipers off a Laguna '02 the same as the 172 items? I know that the Laguna ones are 5stud but I will be changing them for Clio 16v stubs.
Cheers Josh
Just either take the car down with the book or just give them your reg. Either way they can track it.
Not sure on the price but they can usually get them in in 2-3 days.
In my old clio I caught a curb in the snow at night and it didnt leave any marks or anything until i had a look in the morning and the damper strut had bent....
I was only doing no more than 5mph...
Mine would be the Ph1 172, even though I do like the 200 in white....
Shame the Mk1 16v weren't manipulated by Renault sport and in the past decade....
