i used to get knocking with my 172 manifold, but the 182 one i've just fitted is a much better fit, seems more room around the manifold and hasn't knocked yet.

no it won't.
it's a fable about the gearbox being weak
the gearbox can take a 172 turbo if your careful.
the standard engine puts out somewhere around 140-150 ftlbs torque, i've only got 177 and that will never go beond 185, regardless what further mods are done

your edit wasn't quite quick enough, saw what you wrote - lol
yes it's moddified, had 233 bhp 177 ftlbs before the 182 manifold.
£350 for the clutch kit and about 10 hours labour (DIY)
After trashing the clutch at the Pod, the cup is finally back on the road.
But now sporting a helix paddle clutch, a 182 manifold, and a moddified link pipe.
took it out for a run seems quieter and paddle is really easy to use.
now all i have to do is save more money to take it back to GDI...
Went to see Fin today, very impressed. Saw his workshop and had a look at an exhaust he was fabricating - very tidy. Impressed with the silencers, look loads better in the flesh.
I'll definatly be investing.

I use www.spark-plugs.co.uk and used to have NGK BKR6EIX-11 in mine @ £5.72+vat each. cheap and good service.
I now use higher temp plugs due to engine spec.
The routing is probably the only way to go, however the welding is not wonderful and i'd probably have used a twin exit back box with a pipe to each tailpipe using bends rather than 90 degree angles on the tailpipes if you can see what i mean. get better flow and look beter when someone has a...
it did have a cat, i'd say normal aftermarket exhaust noise. now decat, non silenced, sounds good but drones a bit on the motorway (unless your doing a bit more than legal, then it's ok?)
Got middle box and back box, both straight through. i believe 2.5 " bore, but i will check later
it's not a drainpipe, it's not black plastic and it's too big to be one! lol
i didn't choose it, but it does the job.
i personally don't like anything more than a single pipe that includes the 182 and V6, no offence to anyone, just my opinion. but saying that ,182 style exhausts on 182's tbh.
yep and loud. i'm quite sure they can be built quieter, but mine's quite loud. It's probably been on the car 3+ years now and it's still really good. heard some horror stories about them, but mine's been really good.
are you sure the grooves are for wet braking performance? i personally don't know or heard of that one. i know drilled are top end high performance but are prone to cracking.
why thank-you. and the tailpipe is quite big too, lol.
Powerflow, 4 or 5" not sure which, got it with the car. looks the nuts with a lick of flames coming out. gonna have some vid soon.
simple answer, no.
if for whatever reason you don't want the amp in the boot, either don't have it and get a decent stereo or under front seat as said already.
it's ok ive got a 182 manifold and a standard 172 system. just the cat / bypass pipe thats different.
and you can try and improve my 27 mpg if you want to, but you're not allowed to run over any horses
