I had one in today with an R3 manifold, pistons are dead in it. Has done a week of driving unmapped for the manifold and today it was down to 165-170psi compression. Bore scoped it and saw a knackered piston 😧

Christ, I've never known them that expensive. If you buy both parts maybe, but there's no need to. The unit itself retails around the £200 mark. And is about 2 hours to change.
If it's for a 197 then pretty much all of the above is incorrect.
The joint is part of the hub, you can get after market ones, but by the time you've faffed about setting the press up to support the hub you'll have spent that in labour. Buy the complete hub and you have warranty from Renault...
But then again a £100k rolling road/premises/electricity doesn't pay for itself. You're also paying for the knowledge it's done correctly and right. The reason us specialists charge more than your back street garage is because you're paying for our knowledge of the vehicles, not some mechanic...
So small update,
Did a bit of wiring, and this was the result:
Doesn't sound too bad for an engine that hasn't turned a degree for 3 years.
Nice To hear it crank and see that it's registering crank signal.
