Removing the old mounts out the dogbone mount can be a pain in the arse, I had to cut mine out, that's probably the most difficult thing to do. I got my uprated mounts from LarkSpeed on Ebay. Be prepared for extra cabin rattle when you do uprate them though.
Have they jacked your car up to steal it then? Mine's only Eibachs and I have jack mine up abit when I've had to alter/repair mine.
Regardless though, thieving scummy c***s!
The hardest bit was getting the old mounts out of the dogbone mount, I only had to do the small one though as I bought a spare dogbone mount with the big rubber mount already removed. I ended up using a hacksaw on the small mount and cut through the rubber/metal then knocked the rest of it with...
Those washers were a right pain in the arse to get in lol. I forgot to put them in at 1st :o. Made gear changes smoother but it still hasn't completely eliminated that slight crunch from 1st to 2nd when taking the revs high in 1st gear and changing quickly.
I think the VVT kicks in around 1.8k rpm, sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. After 5k rpm is when all the power is unleashed, some say "On cam y0" lol. You get a nice little kick once you reach 5k.
Don't Renault say it doesn't ever need changing? I wouldn't fancy risking that lol.
Filling the box up looks a right pain in the arse, it was hard enough just trying to undo the wing nut lol.
Just noticed this thread.
Gutting mate, these Clios are good when they work but when they do decide to let go they do it in some style don't they? As said above it might be worth breaking it rather than fixing it and selling it, if you do decide you've had enough of the car and want rid of it.
As above ^^^
Take one for a drive then that way you'll know what driving/owning an RS clio is like. Also if you do take one out for a drive make sure you take it above 5krpm. It's the RSClio's party trick ;)
Also mine use to play up when ever I left the battery disconnected for a while, might be worth trying if you need to try and prove to the garage who did the work it's not starting.
Just out of curiousity, does the problem come about when the car gets hot?
When mine decided to play up majority of the time it was when the engine was hot. I think mine was missing a heat shield though so I came to the conclusion the manifold was cooking the starter.
I'll try and find out for definite what's he's doing, the early start on a Sunday might put him off lol. Be prepared for a loud and rattley ride though if you do jump in mine though ;) lol
If I haven't got a passenger you can jump in mine if you want? Not to sure if my mate is coming as he said he wanted to come a while ago when I mentioned about this meet and because I've only got two seats I can only carry one passenger.
I see you got that 182 you was talking about then lol. How you finding it?
As for your question, I'm not sure then, as soon as I turn my ignition on I get "Oil OK" never seen "SET ----" before :S
Re: b****cks or not ??
I'd be more inclined to try one of those glorified resister chips that f**k up your engine or one those electric supercharger/induction kits you can get off Ebay. Full of quality products are is FleaBay :rasp: lol.
Where you get the reading for the mileage, when you start the car look there and it should say "oil ok" if you press the black button just below there you'll get the digital oil level checker you're after.
By the way are you the lad I was speaking to at Awesome Gti the other Saturday with the...
Thanks.
Might stick a thread in the wanted section to see if anyone has got one laying around doing nothing. Seems I've got rather lucky with this because it's decided to snap a day after it's had it's M.O.T lol.
I think something has snapped inside my hazard light switch because the button won't stay in which is causing the hazard lights to stay on constantly. I've had to disconnect it behind the panel.
I'm presuming I'll need a new one? if so, anyone have idea of how much I'm likely to pay for a new one?
Lol. I thought I saw you in Wrexham yesterday when I was on my way to Birchdown. Silver ZS with a black bonnet came steaming up behind me. Realised it wasn't you when it got closer though because the whole bonnet was painted black.
Lol. having a rattlely, poorly built car is what Renault ownership is all about :rasp:.
Joking aside though, putting a smile on your face is one of the RS Clio's fortes.
