Can do mate and I could do the same with mine and compare the noises each car makes. Might help diagnose what the issue might be.
Does yours occur during normal or spirited driving? During normal driving in mine you'd never know there was a problem.
Cheers!
Think I'll be sticking to the standard mounts to be honest as I've read on here the uprated mounts that K-tec do cause alot of vibration while the car's idling.
Can the mounts actually split completely and cause the engine/gearbox to drop? or is it just me worrying about things that...
The knocking sound that you get, can you describe it? Mine seems to be a quick bang..bang..bang, again it's abit difficult to describe on here though. lol
Yeah hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear and it's more prominent in wet conditions. Definitely nothing to do with the strut tops hitting the bodywork as I've got the strut top washers fitted.
How much do each of the standard engine mounts cost individually?
Tried searching but only found symptoms of possible engine mount failures.
Also where is the lower gearbox mount? I've located the other 3 and they seem to be in reasonable condition so I'm presuming the knocking noise I'm...
No where near as dear as I thought then. I was actually going to ask for some when I picked my car up on Friday but I couldn't get down there in time before the service department closed. Damn rush hour traffic!
It did slightly yeah, seems to turn in better. Nothing drastically improved though.
As for the standard ride height, I've seen quite a few just recently that seem to ride to high on the front and it's only the Cups too. My 1st Cup did it as well but I was carrying heavy tools in that one everyday
Mine was exactly the same, I put it down to the previous owner having a heavy sound system in the back which caused the rear springs to sag. I replaced all four springs with Sportlines and it sat so much better. Lifted the rear slightly and dropped the front significantly.
Both cars look well but I'm slightly biased towards the cup being a cup owner myself :rasp:.
Gaz? Notice your back end sits lower than the front end just like mine did when I 1st got it. It annoyed the s**t out of me so I ended up buying sportlines after 2 weeks of owning it.
When I decatted mine it sounded crap on full throttle but the only silencer it had from the manifold was the back box plus it was that raspy it caused everything to rattle in my car.
Yeah I know what you mean, when I sold my other Cup a few years ago (financial issues) I regretted it as soon as I saw the new owner drive off and I was pining for another Cup right up until I bought this one.
Yeah! It's running properly again now and the right indicator problem is gone (felt weird using the indicators lol). Turned out to be a wiring fault in the engine bay and the faulty UCH was throwing out random electrical faults when the AA bloke ran diagnostic on it. Not to sure what Renault...
LOL! If I did that, it wouldn't take long before you're as pissed off with it as me.
Are you still looking at getting an RS anytime soon? Or have you dropped that idea due to insurance?
Contemplating selling the Cup and getting something else, due to it's recent non-starting issues and costing me a small fortune to put it right I've really fell out with the car. On the drive back from Renault I really couldn't be bothered with it and getting home couldn't come soon enough. At...
Completely blanking him will probably piss him off then, would be amusing if he did it one day and his clutch let go and he had to pull over in a big cloud of white smoke.
Lol! I wouldn't let it bother you mate, one day you'll pass him broken down on the side of the road if he continues to mistreat his car and when you do you can give him a big cheesy grin and a wave ;)
